Nail glue, which is basically superglue.

Cut up a tea bag and then put nail glue on, you can buff it down to smooth

Cut a tea bag open, discard the tea...then cut a shape the size of your nail. Paint clear varnish onto nail. While still wet place tea bag paper over. Paint another few layers of varnish over the top and it should bond long enough to last a few days. Repeat as necessary until grown out long enough to cut and file smooth.

Was going to say a piece of strong paper towel, not the kitchen type, trimmed to size and nail glue or superglue. Let it dry then file it very gently and put clear nail varnish on.

I always used to use bog roll wrapped round the nail tear as much as possible round the back of the nail too, crammed in with an orange stick and clear nail varnish to glue in place.

However the teabag material sounds like an improvement!

Another vote for tea bags. Works really well.
