Shampoo for ageing hair

I'm 38 and I've noticed the texture of my hair has been gradually becoming more coarse, where it used to be very smooth soft and silky. Only a few greys. No shampoo and conditioner I try seems to help.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

My hair is thick and straight, not coloured, and tends to be greasy at the roots and dry at the ends. I've tried kerastase but it didn't agree with my hair. Happy to pay more for something that might work.

TIA!

I’m using Superdrug’s Argan oil range with a lee stafford shampoo brush to get the roots clean then Tesco’s own brand serum (£1).

I take a multivitamin with iron too but I’ve only just started that so it’s too soon to tell if it works.

Coarse hair is a sign of hypothyroidism. Have you had a blood test?

Total aside but if it’s Marine based why is it called BOVINE? Bovine literally means cow

They tried collagen supplements on that bbc program the truth about... the other day and found no improvement at all.

It’s like people used to trot out that they’d used a square of jelly for nail growth every day but jelly is about 60% sugar so you might as well have a dip in the sugar bowl.

Collagens just protein & it’s not hard to get protein in your diet.

I have been using the OGX Biotin and Collogen. I don't always use the shampoo though, sometimes I use Vosene! I am 60 with dyed hair and my hair is looking rather good now I have grown it to shoulder length. I love my waves! I use no other products on my hair as it attracts dirt and encourages oil when I do.

I found my hair felt more silky smooth after ditching sls and silicones and starting cowashing

overthemountainsandfaraway · 28/08/2020 19:03

Thanks all. I have mostly been using shampoo and conditioner with no silicone or parabens etc but to no avail. I've tried cowashing but my hair just ends up greasy. Admittedly I've not done it for longer than two weeks, does your hair somehow change after that or do you just get used to having oily hair?
