Good evening all - I'm sorry if this has been done many times already but have any of you felt like you've had to develop a working from home wardrobe? I feel daft asking but in my job I've been told I'll be working from home indefinitely with occasional trips to the office.
I actually quite like getting a bit more dressed up for work, it helps me focus and I've noticed I've been getting increasingly slobbish casual as the pandemic has gone on.

So what are you all wearing for working at home please? I don't want to sit at my kitchen table in office attire but I'm getting sick of my default uniform of jeans and a t-shirt (I can't believe I just typed that).

Actually having read the thread more carefully I see I am not alone

Power PJs- it could be a thing

Snozzlemaid · 27/08/2020 22:59

Definitely living in leggings with long t shirts or tunics here.
Have put jeans on just for working at home a couple of times just for a change but soon went back to leggings.

Comfy leggings or pjs as bottoms as they can’t be seen. I change colours of my t-shirts/tops when it’s one of the regular big team meetings. Also put on some make-up. When it’s a one-to-one call, it seems people switch their cameras off by default which suits me just fine. If not, I just tell them I’m having a bad hair day (which is actually true).

Wond3rment · 27/08/2020 23:03

I will also be working from home for the months to come. 4 out of 5 days I dress as I do when I work outside the home. Make up, jewellery, the lot. I am on video Calls for 6 or so hours a day, most days. About a day a week on average I dress late, straight into leggings with a more formal top. I am definitely more productive if dressed for work. I blame school uniforms for this strange discipline/conditioning Grin

Justnormajean · 27/08/2020 23:06

I’m enjoying wearing a succession of maxi dresses. Feel comfortable but also glam!

cakeallday · 27/08/2020 23:07

I don't feel 'professional' if I don't get ready! But I don't like anything restrictive.

So I wear casual dresses, midi pleated skirts with a decent t-shirt or vest top & cardi, elasticated waist casual trousers with a decent top...and so on. Basically the priorities are a loose waist and something that looks respectable on Zoom.

Oh and I only make the front of my hair look good because no one can see the back except my family Grin

Breton tops and t shirts, shorts or jeans usually.
My straighteners and dry shampoo now live in my desk drawer for a quick spruce up before calls.

Sometimes I treat myself to dress down Friday in my dressing gown, or a WFH day when I wear joggers and sit on the sofa rather than at my desk.

ColleagueFromMars · 27/08/2020 23:16

Well today I got up late so it was a stained nightie with a poncho jumper thrown on top and joggers, no knickers or bra, for the morissons delivery Blush and I'm still wearing it this evening!

Joggers and barefoot for the win, top has been a vest top in the hot weather, but recently I've rediscovered a couple of nice jumpers and cotton tunics. I've definitely done the posh scarf for zoom calls thing, in fact that was my outfit yesterday!

TheSunIsStillShining · 27/08/2020 23:30

I wear the same jeans/t-shirts that I have worn for years in/out of office.
My colleagues whined about this and how they now hate their sweatpants. They didn't appreciate me saying: throw them out :) And they can hardly believe that I haven't owned on in about 2 decades.

Teal99 · 27/08/2020 23:35

Leggings and a succession of t-shirts. Liberation! I really love clothes but love the no fuss work attire more.

Mrsmophead · 28/08/2020 00:05

I started off wearing work clothes, drying my hair. Full jewellery.
Then sports leggings with a dress over.
Then hair left wet in a bobble.
Slowly into gym gear. All my Teams calls are in a hoodie, joggers or leggings.
I'll wear a dress (likely over leggings) and put on earrings if I'm interviewing on screen or in something otherwise I am comfy and casual. All barefoot.
My job has me very much on my feet when I'm allowed in but I find sitting down at a screen WFH I've got to be comfortable.

QueenPaws · 28/08/2020 09:28

These leggings for today and a black oversize t shirt Grin

I just wear what I would have worn to work, dresses (and cardigans when it’s arctic August like today). I have loads of work dresses and far fewer casual clothes so it seems easier to just cycle though the dresses as I normally would. I don’t wear makeup anyway so don’t now. I feel more tuned into work if I dress the part, always have, I wouldn’t work as diligently in jeans.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 28/08/2020 09:47

I'm wearing more along the lines of what I would wear to meet a friend for lunch on a Saturday - so nice, but not work clothes. I make sure I am showered, makeup, hair done by about 9.15. I am logged in for 9, but usually still eating breakfast.

Today I'm in black cropped Levi's 501s, a Breton top from Cos, and a chunky cable-knit cardi from Warehouse. (It's cold here!) I've been wearing a lot of midi dresses and skirts too.

TorkTorkBam · 28/08/2020 09:51

I like to dress differently on work days. Not as different as for an office though.

I tend to wear a proper shirt or blouse with my jeans or skirt on work days. I have selection of tops that look good on video calls (all the stripey ones are gone). I am on video calls about 50% of my working day.

LaPampa · 28/08/2020 09:52

I worked from home before all this happened anyway so I was used to meetings on zoom. I just wear my normal clothes. Jeans, jumpers, dresses if it is hot etc.

Pigeon31 · 28/08/2020 10:10

Wearing jersey shirts (like this www.woolovers.com/womens/tops-and-shirts/womens-jersey-shirt-turquoise-16154) with cargo pants - looks reasonably smart for Zoom calls but without needing to be ironed.

Suzi888 · 28/08/2020 10:12

A smart top due to video calls. The bottom half has on occasion, been highly questionable Grin

Psychoseverywhere · 28/08/2020 10:29

I have a full home office laid out here in a spare room. I am currently wearing work out leggings and top as I work out on my 'lunchbreak' so I am ready to go for that but I have a fluffy jumper on and a pair of slippers over it as I am frozen. Thankfully we have no video chatting but every day is work out clothes for me.

crosshatching · 28/08/2020 12:00

This is great - thank you all. I think I'm going to move into 'tops that need ironing' and start looking at my more casual skirt collection. @ColleagueFromMars I salute your dedication to proper comfort!
