Sezane Gaspard jumper

bibbitybobbitycats · 27/08/2020 12:58

Hi all
Has anyone bought this jumper? If so, what is the sizing like? I am a 10/12 and have bought a shirt and a jacket from Sezane before and needed a 10 and 8 respectively. Their sizing seems quite generous, so I can't decide whether to get a S or M in the Gaspard.

Ta!

Their sizing is not generous in jumpers. Also all the jumpers I've bought from Sezane (5) have shrunk, even with washing on a cold wash. I'm a 10/12 and I got the L as I knew their jumpers came up small, and I'm glad I did as it shrunk. I've got a lot of dresses and tops from Sezane which I love but won't be buying jumpers from them anymore due to shrinkage. Also their jumpers are very high wool content so quite itchy and last winter wasn't really cold enough to wear them without overheating!

Ginfordinner · 27/08/2020 13:45

That looks like a cardigan, and a very expensive one.

workshy44 · 27/08/2020 13:47

I have this in the smallest size and it is still pretty big. Unless you are broad I would so small personally
Also I don't like it v much - weird shape and makes you look wide across the middle

LarkLaneLove · 27/08/2020 13:55

Agree @workshy44 - they look gorgeous on the model but never been a fan of the shape, before or after it shrank :). I don't think it's worth it for the money personally.

bibbitybobbitycats · 27/08/2020 13:56

workshy44 ooh, I don't need anything wide across the middle!

Ginfordinner you can wear it as a jumper (with the buttons at the back) or a cardi! Yes expensive.

LarkLaneLove oh, don't like the sound of the itchyness and shrinkage.

I wish the site had a review function.

Agree re the review feature. Also I find with Sezane as they pose the models very artfully it's hard to see what clothes are actually like some of the time, although they do advise whether to size up or down for each piece. I'm looking at the link you posted though and it looks different to mine - don't know if they've changed its composition - as mine looks a lot thicker than the current ones, had mine for a couple of years so they may have done. Really liked the idea of wearing it either way but didn't think it really worked in practice, when had the buttons at the back it came up really high on my neck and as was itchy made me feel really hot and uncomfortable. Shame as they look absolutely gorgeous!

absolutehush · 27/08/2020 14:09

I own this and it comes up large.

It's ok on me, it doesn't work buttons at the front. The label is in a bad place and the neckline is... wrong.

I like it buttons at the back though! That looks fab.

absolutehush · 27/08/2020 14:10

Mine was purchased this year!

Ellapaella · 27/08/2020 14:11

I have two Sezane jumpers and both are generous. I am a 10-12 and a medium in Sezane is massive on me. I would go for a small or if in any doubt or both S and M and send one back if you can afford too. Sezane can be very unpredictable with knitwear sizing.

bibbitybobbitycats · 27/08/2020 14:18

Thanks absolutehush and Ellapaella I will have a ponder.

They've got the first part of their autumn collection launching on Sunday anyway so I'd wait until that's online and look at the rest of their stuff before you make a decision!

Sasuma · 27/08/2020 14:24

I’ve got a few Sezane jumpers and find their sizing generous - I’m an 8 and get XS. I haven’t had any issues with their quality or shrinking! I have this cardigan and generally worn it tucked in - so if it is wider around the middle I haven’t noticed.

absolutehush · 27/08/2020 14:24

@bibbitybobbitycats does slightly boxy, or slightly shapeless things work on you?

I can see if I can find a photo of myself wearing it for you!

LarkLaneLove · 27/08/2020 14:26

Maybe it's just me! I've found all my Sezane jumpers apart from 2 have shrunk and I always wash knitwear on cold so not sure what I'm doing wrong! Have got one that is a L and MASSIVE but obviously that hasn't shrunk at all!

bibbitybobbitycats · 27/08/2020 14:50

It depends! I have big boobs in relation to the rest of me, some shapeless things can be surprisingly flattering, other times I look like a galleon in full sail...

Don't look at the rest of the site, there is some lovely stuff, but pricey!

I didn't know about Sunday LarkLaneLove, so will wait until then to see what is new.

The Barry style with a v neck is more flattering on most people than the Gaspard, in my opinion, which can look a bit boxy. It’s also reversible. Not in stock now but may be among the new season stuff, they repeat styles a lot.

MayDayFightsBack · 27/08/2020 15:16

I am an 8 and always buy Sèzane knitwear in XS, I find their sizes generous. My red Gaspard is lovely and soft. I tuck it in and wear it with the buttons at the back. I’ve washed it once in cold water and it looks ok but I read beforehand that they are a bugger to wash so don’t wash them much if you can help it.

absolutehush · 27/08/2020 18:58

@bibbitybobbitycats can't find any photos of me but I am also large of tit and this falls into the good camp, as long as I'm in my 12 jeans not my 14. Although everything looks shit when I'm bigger.

I wear mine the same as @MayDayFightsBack with ankle boots

Zeldaaa · 27/08/2020 20:58

I also find the sizing generous and order an XS as a size 8. I pave 3 jumpers and haven’t had any issues with shrinking. I don’t put them 8n the washing machine though - I hand wash.

bibbitybobbitycats · 04/09/2020 15:39

Just in case it is useful to someone, I ordered the Gaspard (well two Blush )in a small and it is a good fit, relaxed but not huge. It is also flattering to my big boobs. Lovely and soft and not at all scratchy.

I also bought the Clara trousers, but they are going back. The pockets sort of gape out when you sit down and it is annoying as well as not flattering! I hadn't noticed, but if you look carefully on the website you can see they do the same thing on the model (I thought it might be because I am a bit squidgy round the middle). It's a shame as they are lovely trousers on the hanger and when you are standing up.

I have two of these jumpers and I love them. The size is generous I would say, I am a size 12 and I had the M which is still roomy. I like wearing the buttons on the front but I can see that this would not be good if you had big boobs. I did not find it itchy personally.

HappyGirlNow · 22/10/2020 13:27

It looks gorgeous but it also looks very very itchy!

tunachoc · 22/10/2020 13:41

I have a couple of Gaspard cardigans- don't find them itchy at all.
