How often do you clean your earrings?

I wear my little diamond studs 24/7, shower and wash my hair every day and tend to forget I have them on as they are very tiny and I have been wearing them for decades.
Every now and then I remember to take them off and give them and my piercing a proper clean, but that might be every other month if I am good. The build up is horrific and they smell too!

How do you stay on top of that? Is there a trick I am missing other than washing the area with soap every day (but without taking them out)?

I wear my studs permanently. I have to remind myself to take them out quarterly to clean them.

I have an ultra sonic cleaner (and on advice from a poster on one of these threads ) a drop of Stardrops cleaner .
No diamonds though, all CZ or plain silver

I wash round my ears with a muslin cloth without the earrings in.
And the build up is pretty much shampoo etc.

DD has a belly buttin piercing that she takes out to let the shower water run through the piercing hole .
I have a Envy

I have a sonic cleaner device - clean all my jewellery once a month
I add a few drops of surgical spirit in with earrings

I also use an ultrasonic cleaner device. It's amazing the gunk it removes.

I change my studs every few days, but clean my ears in the shower every day.

I just took my earrings out after they had been in for at least two months. On a close examination - no gunk, no smell, look like new.
