Bra for DD1 (14)

DD1 desperately needs a new bra - boob or bust say she should be in 28C or D (she only measures 26 underneath, but presumably this is not an option), but I ordered this John Lewis bra in 28C, but she had a bit of double-boob, which didn't seem appropriate for a new bra, and it does not exist in 28D, in fact 28D seems to be a bit of a black hole as there is not one 28D bra on the John Lewis website and the only one on the Marks and Spencer website (and a sports bra to boot!) was clearly not actually a D cup when it arrived.

Where else can I look? What can I do? I have ordered 30C in the mean time, but I don't know how good the band will be. Where does your slim daughter buy her bras?!?

If you go up a band side you need to go down a cup size so if she's measuring 26C/D a 30C would be way too big

JemimaTiggywinkle · 26/08/2020 17:37

Freya do them, but they’re not the cheapest

TantricTwist · 26/08/2020 18:13

My DD 13 is super slim and I was surprised she was measured in a 30 but it fits well.

ohdearthehouseisburningdown · 26/08/2020 18:22

Could you perhaps try the soft Calvin Klein ones that pull over the head in XS expensive but I wear them myself and find the support good

idril · 26/08/2020 18:49

My daughter also measures 26 but I just get her a 30 back. On the tightest setting (which is what you are supposed to do for teens) it's an OK fit.

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/08/2020 18:54

I’m a 28D and use Freya. It’s a really common size that M&S would say is a 34AA 😂.

clary · 26/08/2020 18:59

Bra stop.com do 28D bras, I can't get it to work on my iPad but I am sure they will have some. Certainly don't bother with M&S, I wear 30G and they never have that size, I am weird, oh no wait their sizing is RUBBISH

clary · 26/08/2020 19:17

Here you go, reduced in the sale too bright pink tho

Lemonsole · 26/08/2020 20:22

Go to Bravissimo. My DD is 15 and a 28E. She was initially apprehensive because it's where I get mine, but has been delighted to leave the M&S parachute harnesses behind her. She loves a non-underwired one called Jade, and Niya works brilliantly under a school blouse. She's also had a fabulous bikini this year in which she can confidently take on a water slide.

Lemonsole · 26/08/2020 20:24

And if you're nowhere near a shop, they'll happily give advice over the phone. It sounds as though you should start with a 28 D or DD, which are as rare as hens teeth on the high street.

Boux Avenue do this size and they do have plain t-shirt bras if the lace stuff is too fussy.

Jbck · 26/08/2020 20:52

Just came to say Boux Avenue too, not cheap but not as expensive as Bravissimo and younger styles.

DD18 is a 26E so we buy a 28 DD, although I think the cups are getting a bit neat but they go up to a G.

TooMinty · 26/08/2020 21:00

Also if 30C does fit then Calvin Klein do this size (I wear this size) - I have a couple of "proper" bras and a couple of the over the head bralet ones a PP mentioned (in XS). Very comfy!

Janek · 28/08/2020 16:02

Thanks for the advice, particularly the names of specific bras. The 30Cs turned up today and pretty much fit. The cup is correct, proving that she is indeed 28D. The trouble with some of the brastop etc ones is the garish colours/lace, she is a young 14 and just doesn't want that nonsense under her school shirt! Anyway, crisis averted for now, thanks again!

Bravissimooooo, take her in and get her measured properly (by eye).

They do 28 backs and just about ever cup size imaginable.
