I want a perm... am I bonkers?

I used to have very thick and very curly hair. I loved it, it was the one thing I liked about my appearance.

Two pregnancies and a serious illness later it is very, very thin and the curl is almost all gone. I've always taken good care of it. I still do the curly girl method, I've had a lovely cut and style and it still looks awful.

Would a perm be a ridiculous idea? I just want to feel good about myself, tbh. If I could get my hair looking like it's old self I think that would really help.

No, not bonkers at all. I'm considering the same thing for the same reason. I want legitimate curl again, if that makes sense, rather than the straggly mess I've somehow ended up with. My hair has always been my biggest vanity, and people always commented/complimented re it, yet recently I even contemplated cutting the whole lot off, not that I'm ever actually going to do that but I'm just so pissed off and disappointed with it.

I would like one. Seem to spend a lot of time curling my hair.

I think do whatever makes you happy. Smile

Also interested. I would like to know can you get the tousled/wavy look that you can do with straighteners/tongs from a modern perm rather than curly curls. My fine straight hair is pretty boring and I would rather add texture for interest and for a "done" look, rather than add colour.

Not at all.

I'm thinking about it also.

I have wavy hair. It's not curly enough to get a good curl without heat and left to dry naturally just looks unkempt.

So I blow dry it straight.

In the curl stakes it's "summat and nowt" Grin.

When I can be bothered to curl it it looks great so I'm thinking a perm might be the answer - the technology has moved on loads from the poodle perms of the past.

My hairdresser was telling me last week that perms are becoming popular again so you aren't alone.

Look up “digital perm”

Try ditching sulphate shampoo it helps with curls

Only if it's very long!
