3 year hunt for a tinted moisteriser

Cookalia · 25/08/2020 18:55

I have spent years searching for a tinted moisteriser (or BB cream) that doesn't settle in my pores and give me a light cakey look where I just look like I have lots of holes all over my face (great look) that are obvious.

Before it was withdrawn I lived in Shu Uemura mousse which I loved. Foundation wise I only ever wear Bareminerals original mineral. It is the only foundation that doesn't settle in pores. But I need a really light coverage, easy to apply tinted moisturiser for day to day wear.

I've tried Bobbi Brown which was really bad
Garnier BB cream was the wrong colour and oxidised
L'Oréal magic settled in my pores really badly

I have a BM complexion rescue which is just okay - settles in pores a little but not as bad as others.

I have combination skin and have a pore filling primer as well.

As even expensive ones dont really do it I don't want to spend a lot on something that might not work. Shall I just admit defeat?

I really, really like Missha BB cream.

Cookalia · 26/08/2020 08:29

Ooh, thanks all. A good few that I'd never heard of as well

The Chanel one is my go-to. I am a massive makeup junkie, I have a lot of tinted moisturisers! I have combination skin and it lasts well too. No cakiness or settling into pores at all.

Trish McEvoy. It’s wonderful.

QuentinWinters · 26/08/2020 09:32

Chantecaille is amazing, it is £££ but after I tried a tester I couldn't use anything else .... and I'm not a beauty product person

flametrees · 26/08/2020 09:35

Erborian bb or cc cream.
My over 50's skin on Instagram wears it and it's beautiful. You can get small sizes to try it out.

Another vote for Laura Mercier here. I just posted on another thread that I like it so much that I don’t bother with foundation anymore.

Nars.

RegalRags · 26/08/2020 10:48

Are you using a pore minimising primer first?
I love the Clinique moisture surge cc cream. Really easy to apply, light to medium coverage and lasts all day without being cakey

LoriesGar · 26/08/2020 11:58

Another vote for Erborian- I didn’t get on with BM, but really like Erborian

I’d like to try the Missha BB cream

MobLife · 26/08/2020 12:05

100% Laura Mercier! It's one of my make up staples

snappycamper · 26/08/2020 13:08

Lots of love for Laura mercier on this thread. I've tried it and it was far to thick and heavy for my combination/oily skin.

Nat6999 · 26/08/2020 13:14

I used to love the Clinique age defense CC cream but it was discontinued.

nameisnotimportant · 26/08/2020 13:27

I use Charlotte tilbury unisex healthy glow, it's amazing. I mix a blob in with some moisturiser and then apply. Gives a nice glow and doesn't settle in pores.

Lovelydovey · 26/08/2020 13:29

Lumene skin tint or Erborian cc cream are my picks!

powerjen · 26/08/2020 13:34

Estée Lauder sheer tint number one for summer/ light coverage with a slight summer glow. I'm very pale so it can be a bit 'tan' for me in the depths of winter.

Missha BB (in the burgundy tube not the other one which is for dry skin) for winter/more coverage. I use this when I want to wear "foundation".

Mac face and body anytime and always. LOVE this.

All good for minimising the craters that are the pores on my face combined with CT airbrushed presses powder.

banivani · 26/08/2020 14:04

I've used Missha BB cream for years but my shade is always sold out and only available online so it's a faff. Most recently bought Nyx Bare With Me Tinted Skin Veil and am quite pleased. Very light though, they claim buildable but I'm very much a "rub on a layer and go" person. Worth a shot, not expensive. I wouldn't say it can pass as moisturiser though. But this summer I've had a light serum, sunblock and then the Nyx and it's been grand.

Imtoooldforallthis · 26/08/2020 14:37

I'm currently using the no 7 one in a green tube, it's meant for oily skin and is OK, but not brilliant. But what I do love is the Ordinary serum foundation. I use one of the large flat oval brushes, I put one pump and buff it all over. It might be worth a try.

reepicheepsconscience · 26/08/2020 14:52

Another vote for Erborean. I'm in my 50s and I love the CC cream. It just gives a very natural, un-cakey look. I think it's good for a lot of skin types as my early 20s daughter is a fan of it too.

snappycamper · 02/09/2020 07:48

@bettyboo40

I've been using this by Australian gold. I've got really big pores too and as I like to wear factor 50 everyday I was looking for one that was tinted so could replace me having to use a sunscreen and a foundation. I find it works well for coverage, and is not as heavy as my foundation.
I bought this after reading this thread last week and it's brilliant. I am a convert.
coginamachine · 02/09/2020 07:59

Nars tinted moisturiser is amazing, comes in a wide range of colours and you buy in store they can colour match. I liked the finish of Laura Mercier however it didn't agree with my skin think it was chemical sunscreen element but with Nars it's a physical sunscreen instead which is much better on my skin.

SmallYappyTypeDog · 02/09/2020 08:23

I love love love Erborian! My skin was looking so much worse with any foundation or tinted moisturiser sitting in pores and I have had zero problems since moving to Erborian.

Now my skin is in much better nick due to using Skin+me I tend to only use the CC creme day to day. If my skin looks bad or I want a more polished look I will use the Pink Perfect primer, cc creme and then a light cover of the BB creme where needed.

The website always has offers on and the 15ml travel tubes last for ages. I wont even bother with anything else now.
