So I've decided to embrace my curls but need something to help it. Everything is either crispy or greasy. Any suggestions?

Not mousse but I'm still experimenting with alternatives so watching with interest

Gel and mousse are supposed to go crispy btw... then when they’re completely dry, you scrunch your hair till it’s not crispy anymore.

You might know that, but it was genuinely an eye opener for me, lol

I use Cantu Curl Activator, but I also follow the Curly Girl routine which has been a game changer for me, been doing it for 3.5 years.

angelfishrock · 23/08/2020 18:53

what's your curl pattern like?

LouisBalfour · 23/08/2020 18:56

Boucleme is very good, but you have to apply it to sopping wet hair.

CaptainMonkey · 23/08/2020 18:56

Some kind of oil to smooth and then boots curl cream to define works for me.

This Kerastase product is amazing for defining natural curls. I put it on lightly towel dried (microfibre hair turban) hair and then gently diffuse dry with my Dyson hairdryer.

Kerastase Aura Botanical Creme be Boucles

The Boots pink curl cream cheap as chips.
Small amount on wet hair
Let dry naturally.

Trevor Sorbie curl cream -buy direct from website

All good products must be allowed to dry naturally though.

Trepadora have amazing curly hair products. It’s a small business but their customer service is great. They’ve got a new product out and I tried a free sample and was instantly wowed.

I currently use Pantene Mousse for curly hair and Cantu Curl Activator. The Cantu custard is lovely, leaves my hair really soft but doesn't have much hold. I follow curly girl method but use a sulfate free shampoo as Co washing made my hair too flat. You have to experiment with different things. And always scrunch out the crunch when it's dry.

Eco-something. You can get a big pot in boots for about £5

BunnyLovesBananas · 25/08/2020 20:22

I also like TIGI curl gel

WillowySnicket · 25/08/2020 20:48

Agree with "they're meant to be crispy"...google "scrunch out the crunch. Amazing and curllife-changing!
