Any ideas which shop is best?
Ds needs black or charcoal. I was planning a wool mix suit but forgot about the dry cleaning.
Can I mix n match a wool jacket with washable trousers? He likes skinny trousers and has a tendency to lose things regularly. He also likes clothes and is very fussy about how he looks. He's very slim, broad shouldered n sporty.
So taking that all into account ... any recommendations?

Mine has just got some from ASOS.

ExtremelyBoldSquirrels · 22/08/2020 19:31

Primark.

Next suits are fairly durable.

Also worth looking at Next clearance site. I got some for dc for a funeral for under £50 per suit.

We went with M&S. Lots of choice, mix and match for very slim waist and broader shoulders.
We got him 2 pairs of trousers to go with the jacket. Talked about washable school trousers, but he was adamant it needed to be a proper suit.
They had some cracking bargains in their sale!

Thank you all for posting with advice.
I did look at M&S and ordered some sale items. There was a brilliant deal on a grey wool suit so I ordered that and a black one. Ds1 has now informed that he hates grey 😬. So I guess that’s going to be returned then, as I know he won’t wear it ( but heartbreaking as it’s only £30) .There’s a Next skinny black suit online that looks good as well. It seems to be tricky to find a skinny fit wool suit in black though. They're all more classic shapes. Today I will venture onto ASOS.

I’ve also just ordered some H&M bits. A wool slim fit jacket at half price and some black skinny suit trousers that are ankle length and cheap with good reviews. I have a feeling the M&S ones won’t be skinny enough for him 🤦🏼‍♀️.

I have just bought two machine washable suits. The school recommends washable smart trousers such as chinos, because clothing must be washed after each wear due to covid19

roundandsideways · 23/08/2020 12:49

Check the school webisite etc for an update on this.

teta · 23/08/2020 12:55

Really?
I had better check on an update.
In which case his school will have to change the uniform totally as it involves a wool blazer.
Mines a boarder so there are no facilities to change clothes daily.
And chinos are not allowed in his school.

My friends has some suits from an Italian suit shop in a shopping centre - think they were good value and the boys liked them a lot.

ProperVexed · 23/08/2020 12:57

My sons had to have suits for sixth form. DS1 got one in m and s - broad shoulders but slim elsewhere. DS2 got a fantastic fitting suit in Burtons. I bought 2 pairs of trousers and one jacket as the trousers wear out quicker,

roundandsideways · 23/08/2020 13:12

Ah sorry op. It might be different at n independent school.

roundandsideways · 23/08/2020 13:13

But I usually buy from M and S, suits from h and m, and Next don't last

SoupDragon · 23/08/2020 13:15

DS2's came from River Island (and was very skinny). Machine washable is essential IMO, having seen 2 boys through 6th form 😂

M&S were nowhere near skinny enough for DS2's liking.

Yes! They also get things spilt on them more often.
