Are Silk Tops Frumpy?

Hi everyone,

I hope you can help...
Been trying to declutter my wardrobe and have quite a few beautiful silk tops (usually with some kind of floral print and in lovely colours, by Rebecca Taylor and others) which I am unsure what to do with.

They were very expensive at the time but I got them cheaper through Ebay and charity shops. I think I bought them all eight to five years ago.

Back then, I got the idea from magazines that these tops with skinny jeans were fashionable . Now I have a feeling they're frumpy-looking, and maybe were too old for me even then!

I haven't looked at a fashion magazine in years and am not that observant of what other people are wearing, but I don't see many people who dress like that any more. I'm more into the idea of simple fine cotton tops now worn with jeans as anything more during the day feels too dressy.

So what do you think- does anyone here wear that kind of top, and if so, where?

Thanks!

If you like them and feel good then who cares what others think.

They kind of suit me but might have an incredibly ageing effect! Other people's perceptions do matter a bit. These tops are not the kind of item you buy to look simple and natural, so if they're years out of date it could look weird. I'm at a stage when I want to look more casual but contemporary...

I think silky tops, skirts and dresses are very 'in' at the moment. Plain, rather than ditsy/floral though as patterns can look aged over time.

@Sciencebabe Thank you! I got round to liking some of my silk tops again, after selling off a few. I think my wardrobe just needed an update...I agree that ditsy/floral patterns feel wrong at the moment.
