The front looks messier in the pic than in real life (I hope)

Forget this, it's been changed already, it's not a happy hair day!!

Brilliant question though.Grin

Great thread title!

These are the sort of questions we ask everyday.
Crisp bob or Lord Farquar?
Country chic or Windy Miller?

I've had compliments for my effortless look buns but quite often I can end up with a Trunchball bun Sad there is no in between Grin

I ask this question all the time. I just can't seem to get a stylish top knot no matter how hard I try.

Johnnybong · 21/08/2020 16:46

For it to be chic you need less poofyness at the nape of the neck and have that vollume reversed at the top of your head. Use bobby pins and a small donut.

Zeldaaa · 21/08/2020 16:56

😂 this exact question crosses my mind every time I try a bun.

MrsFionaCharming · 21/08/2020 18:14

I was having a lazy day around the house, and paired my pj shorts with long cosy socks a la Pinterest. DH asked why I was dressed as the Trunchbull.

dontgobaconmyheart · 22/08/2020 00:29

The struggle is real OP. I have a similar issue with a low ponytail- seems to look great on others (models). Especially with a bow which seems kind of of the moment. I just look like one of the founding fathers. Cannot remember the last time I left the hosue with my hair up because it's just not a goer most of the time is it.

Wolfgirrl · 22/08/2020 00:34

Lovely hair but it is a bit Trunchbull!

Gather hair into ponytail
Twist at the roots down to the end
Wrap into a high top knot
Secure with a clear hair elastic and 'pull' the bum outwards to make it bigger/messier

angelfishrock · 22/08/2020 07:30

I am afraid it is a tiny bit miss trunchball. it needs more mess to get away from that look

"Founding fathers"😂

Sympathies with your bad hair day Op but this thread has cheered me right up😊

Blondiney · 22/08/2020 09:41

The bun is fine but your fake tan needs a bit of work. Shock

namitynamechange · 22/08/2020 12:28

The easiest way for me to get a perfect "messy bun" that looks amazing is to be indoors all day and not see anyone. My hair always looks perfect then. Soon as I try to recreate it to head outside it refuses to cooperate :(

Wolfgirrl · 22/08/2020 12:43

BUN not bum OMG

Elmo311 · 22/08/2020 13:24

It happens to me all the time, with my dry, frizzy, thin hair! I feel your pain.

It’s a bit trunchbull OP but I have exactly the same problem. I can never manage a chic bun.
