Pre hair dyeing advice

Hi!

I'm going to the salon on Friday for my first ever (eek!) hair colouring. I'm hoping for a nice subtle balayage that looks more like natural sunkissed brown hair.

Can anyone give me guidance on ways to prep? I usually wash my hair in the mornings but my appointment is only at 11am. Is it sensible to wash it before or should I just go in with unwashed hair? Any suggestions on hair care for afterwards is greatly appreciated too! I hardly ever go to the hairdressers- last went 18 months ago- so this is a special occasion for me! Grin

Don't wash it beforehand. Makes it too fine and flyaway and harder to work with.

In the current Covid climate our salon specifically asks you to go in with clean, dry hair before a colour. They say that washing it the night before counts as clean.

I just wouldn't wash it in the morning before your appointment. I wasn't told anything about washing hair before my highlights recently

Ask the salon?

My salon is asking clients to come in with their hair already washed, except when they're having colour done. Those having colour need to arrive with unwashed hair.

Okay, so I'll be fine to maybe switch to an evening wash. How long should I leave it after dying before washing? I'm a serial hair washer which I know is awful for hair and colour but my hair is so thin and tends towards being greasy. Anyone have a favourite blonde hair product? I'm completely useless with hair/beauty stuff!

I could call but I tried yesterday and the only girl available to speak was the receptionist and she didn't even know how to take my card details for the deposit Hmm
