Is the Dyson Airwrap worth it?

Not too fussed about full on curls but more interested in that smooth blow dry look, with volume.

My hair is naturally curly and frizzy, used to be very thick but now I’m mid 30s it’s thinning a bit (still long)!

I’ve tried to have my hair naturally curly but it’s always a bit frizzy near the scalp - have also tried the curly girl method and ‘plopping’.

Is the dyson easy to use?
Will it smooth out the frizz and give me shine?
With it give me some bounce and volume?

For those saying the curl doesn't stay in are you using products in your hair? Surely that would help?

I love my airwrap, my hair is a handful and I’m no good at any fancy hair styles. I mostly use the round brush attachment which gives my hair volume and I do a little twist at the end for a wave at the end of my hair. I have never ever been able to blow dry my hair but the airwrap makes it super easy. I use to get my hair cut every 4/6 weeks as the ends were terrible from straightening but now it’s so healthy with barely any split ends. I think Dyson do a 30 day money back guarantee, give it a go if you don’t like it - send it back?

I sent mine back. It was a load of faffing for little return. I get better results from my Babyliss Big Hair, for a fraction of the cost.

I do live my Dyson hairdrier though. And the V11 vac (but dont get excited about using that ...)

I also found it made my hair really dry and flyaway, and when I used the barrels the curls dropped within minutes despite using my usual products. I just didnt think the extra cost was justifiable.

I love mine (got it on easy pay on QVC)
I have thick wavy hair and I can now dry it smooth in 10 minutes. The curls last better if you do a cool shot at the end and have a decent styling product.

I have one and although it does make my hair smooth and easier to dry, I am suspicious it may be the cause of my increased hair loss.

Just from my personal experience. It actually does feel like it is more gentle to use so I think the issue may be something to do with the science in the way the dyson operates, that does something to the hair structure that increases hair loss.

I only realised the link when I looked at getting the regular dyson drier and saw so many reviews talking about how it had caused hair loss.

Then I remembered how the same thing happened to me after I had been using the airwrap for 1 month. My Husband remarked at the time it may be the airwrap and I had dismissed it.

Eighteen months later, my hair has been shedding more and more after using it daily I really wish I had listened to him!

I have not used it for a few weeks and the daily hair shedding has dramatically reduced.

I do miss the way it made my hair look and how quick and easy it was but won't risk going back to it now.

I posted about this a while ago. I couldn't face parting with the money in the end and got a Rimmel brush (one brush I think it's called). It does an ok job of making me look like I've made more effort. My hair is very long since lockdown but I feel it is all different lengths from breakages.

Would the dyson hair dryer help with breaking? I have the parlux 385 after recommendations on here but I'm not sure if has made my hair in better condition

Please could the owners of the air wrap answer a few questions?
Would it be really hard for someone who isn't great at styling?

As someone else mentioned, I find the revlon brush very good however I also have lots of tiny hairs near my scalp (breakage!??!) which sticks up as the revlon blows hair in all directions. Would I find over time these small hairs may grow out with less breakage (presuming that's what it is?!)

I thought the Parlux hair dryer was meant to be just as good as the dyson but I think I am noticing heat damage. I got mine at Christmas. Hubby was going to buy me the dyson hair dryer but I asked on here and the parlux was recommended a few times.

Not sure where you’re located, but we recently went to the Dyson store on Oxford Street, they talked us through all the products and there’s a salon upstairs where you can get your hair done using the products (think it’s £30 which is refundable if you buy something) and I think they also do a trial period where you can return it if you don’t like it. It was well worth the time we spent there - they talked us through how to care for our existing products to get the best life out of them

carrottopper TBH I’m crap at styling and this wasn’t any easier, as I said the dryer is excellent and the brush attachment is good also, but I’d still have to go over my hair with straighteners if I wanted the style to last more than the day I did it. I work shifts and have some early rises and the last thing I want is to be faffing with my hair at 4:30.

The curls took me ages to do (my hair is thick and I have lots of it) and didn’t last, the reason I got the Airwrap was I thought it would be less damaging than the Babyliss Curl Secret, but I could get three days worth from that! I also found it confusing and a pain in that you need to use the separate barrels for separate sides of your head as they wrap the hair in different directions.

Actually, as a result of this thread I might try selling mine and just get the full size dryer.

Still undecided - might go for the QVC option as like @ChrissyPlummer I am pretty crap with styling tools

Absolutely love mine! It’s brilliant for styled hair within just 10 minutes. Plus, I can dry my daughters fine hair without her getting lots knots. If you can afford it, I’d recommend it.

Wish I lived nearer to a dyson store. That sounds amazing. My hair is full of split ends and I'm just wondering if I should spend the money and time on hair treatments or the dyson to get it in better condition
