I think my hairdresser must hate me

Had my hair cut and coloured at the weekend by the same hairdresser I've been using for about 2 years. My hair had grown loads (just past shoulders) and I was so excited to get it done. I said to take an inch off and put some layers through the ends. Showed some pics. She's cut off about 2.5inches and some layers are really really short. It all ends up flicking out like Ruth Langford circa 2007. I'm absolutely gutted. I can just about tie it up in some sort of messy bun but the layers poke out and look shit. I wish I'd just asked for a trim. God knows what she was thinking with the layers. It looks like 2 different cuts. Never had a problem with her cuts before. I feel like I've pissed her off without realising and she's taken revenge. Can't bring myself to share a picture or go back to see her.

Don't know what I'm hoping for really. Just need to feel a bit sorry for myself.

Don't go to her again. I wouldn't to a hairdresser who can't undertake my wishes.

@MorrisZapp oh my goodness, yes, that's what my hair is like too. Anthea bloody Turner. Flicks out at the back just like hers. Or, a Fiona Bruce - see pic. I'm just trying to see the funny side - - whilst cringing every time I look in the mirror--

It makes me feel really old. Already feeling a bit shit about turning 40 later in the year.

Thank fuck I can just about put it up.

For all of you also suffering the trauma of a shit haircut you have my sympathy.

My hair is naturally curly and thick but I wear it straight mostly. Got it cut in July. I think with 4 months of growth combined with exhaustion from having to fix my box dyed roots etc, my hairdresser just shit himself when faced with the sheer mass of hair to cut. Can't even use PPE as an excuse as he wasn't wearing any. Worst haircut I've ever had, which is saying something.

I think many of us have suffered the ‘Flick’ we have:

The Judy (Finnigan)
The Anthea Lulu mash up
Langsford Layers
and if your hairdresser is having a particularly bad day......the Quatro crop.

Did you get it sorted op? Same things happened to me just recently! I didn't even ask for layers, I've not had layers since 2008

I wonder if it's down to being out of practice for months? my hairdresser usually does a great job of my balayage but this time there's kind of a really abrupt line at the back of my head on one side where she's not blended it in properly, it looks just like a grown out foil highlight (didn't realise until I dried it naturally). I'll keep going to her as she's done it so well in the past and will hopefully get back up to speed.

Sympathies. I have just above shoulder length hair which I like cut with layers and then give it volume and make it messy, as I like it. So many times I have been given the flicky style and then they've carefully made it all curl under on top and out at the bottom! When I asked for messy. Yuck.
