Kids Doc Marten sizing

DD nearly 9 is desperate for a pair of DM shoes for school. Does anyone know if they’re true to size? I find the adults ones slightly larger than average. Do they take an age to wear in? Thanks!

It depends on the style.
The boots have a style in softer leather, which don't need breaking in.
I find the adult shoes true to size, but boots tend to be more generous. Unisex boots mean I go down a size, and the adult ones need breaking in. The patent leather ones do not break in IME.
