Microblading

Am thinking about this for my over plucked eyebrows (thanks 90s), to save time drawing on every day. Anyone had done? Good/bad experiences? Any tips to find someone good to do it?

I had it done, it has been life changing for me as my eyebrow fell out on one side, follow the after care instructions given, and you will freak out about how dark they are even though you are told you will and that they will lighten up, you will still freak out, you will also be upset disappointed when the scabs flake off as they will all but disappear but again they will come back after a week or two, don't go for the cheapest price.

Lots of people have popped up doing it, make sure you research you person properly look at their pictures and make sure they have actually done the work. I can fully recommend someone in Wiltshire who is amazing.

I'm also thinking of having it done. Mainly because I always have to draw more hairs towards the middle (I have fairly bushy eyebrows but I thin they 'start' slightly too far apart.

Haven’t had this done as I decided against it in the end. Luckily my eyebrows have grown in a bit during lockdown so they’re not as sparse.

My first concern is that you need to find someone who is an expert at what they do and really listens to what you want, or else you’d be stuck with an unflattering eyebrow shape for a while. It’s not something just anyone can do (but then again I’m quite particular about my eyebrow shape.) Don’t be led by a cheap price.

My next concern is the appearance once fading commences. The initially defined brow strokes start to diffuse, overall it look like you’ve (badly) pencilled them in. But I can appreciate that clients with little to no brow hair may still enjoy this!

Thank you everyone that's really helpful. Yes my main concern is finding someone good who will do it exactly how I want!

I had it done, just recently had my annual top up. I love it, it makes such a difference to my face to have defined brows. And it saves a lot of time in the mornings!
The lady I went to is very well respected - I did a lot of research. Also expect to spend money on someone good - mine were £550.

DonLewis · 18/08/2020 08:29

I've had mine done. Similar story, 90s over plucked brows that kind of grew back, but not all over and not evenly!

It's been amazing. I spent along time finding the person I wanted to do it and a long time in the initial consultation telling her what I wanted (natural, natural, even and did I mention, natural!) we also spent a long time deciding on the colour.

They are very dark at first and it's a bit of a pain not being able to get them wet to begin with.

But I will always have them done now. The shape, the colour, the natural look all make me very happy. (my technician said that she'd done then as if I'd never touched them in the 90s, but minus the monobrow).

I paid £200.

chubbyhotchoc · 18/08/2020 08:54

Didn't work for me. Just healed and fell off.

I had mine done as powder brow tattoos instead, the tattooist advised that microblading lines would blur quickly with my skin type. So they are a bit lighter in colour than my natural brows but I draw tiny hairstrokes on in the morning with makeup, takes about 10s compared to ages doing the whole brow before and looks way, way better. Some of the best money I have ever spent (I have dark hair, pale skin and virtually non-existent natural brows). Coming up to the first anniversary now and they have hardly faded at all.

My tattooist spent hours with me trying shapes and discussing colours too. They looked very red after the first treatment but settled very quickly after the second. I had no noticeable scabbing.

PatsyJStone · 18/08/2020 09:13

There’s a local one to me who’s done some amazing stuff. Whilst she most likely will not be local to you, if you want me to message you her FB Page you can see what she is able to do, and use to look for someone to provide the same results. She’s amazing.
Re. The tattooing, with a good microblader you shouldn’t need to do anything.

HermioneWeasley · 18/08/2020 09:16

Love mine, they look really defined but really natural. Would definitely recommend, but agree with personal recommendations- some unscrupulous people use photos of other people’s work in their portfolio!

Where are you based

SunshineChatter · 18/08/2020 09:39

If anyone can recommend someone in London, or even the home counties, that'd be great! Thank you.

Sasuma · 18/08/2020 10:34

@SunshineChatter I went to Perfect Definition, El Trunchan - based in London. She has lots of great reviews.

Thank you @sasuma. I will check it out. I just came across sandrapermanentmakeup.co.uk/ and she is supposed to be very good. The thing is when it's something on your face, you want to ensure it's going to be what you want!

BIRDSbirds · 18/08/2020 18:25

This is amazing thanks! If you do happen to have manchester/liverpool/Cheshire recommendations that would be great!

@BIRDSbirds join the mrsgloss&thegoss group on fb. You'll be able to get recommendations there

Catherine1210 · 18/08/2020 21:03

SP Beauty in Manchester is great, I had mine done by her and I’m really happy 2 years on!

NotPennysBoat · 18/08/2020 21:09

I'm not a very 'made up' person, but had mine microbladed just before lockdown and honestly they are amazing. I look 'done' when I wake up!

I went to theeyebrowedit.co.uk/ after doing loads of research (definitely wanted them to look natural and not overdone). She's in Altrincham which might work for you OP?

BIRDSbirds · 19/08/2020 07:09

Thanks so much for the recommendations! I'm off to do some research now!
