Mascara recommendations

Can anyone recommend a decent mascara that doesn't leave black smudges as the day goes on but properly lengthens and thickens the look of the lashes?

In case it matters, I'm 44 & have reasonably-lengthed eye lashes but struggle to find a decent mascara.

Too Faced - Better than sex mascara, it's amazing!

Wildwood6 · 17/08/2020 09:04

Kevyn Aucoin The Volume Mascara- its a tubing mascara so it never gives you panda eyes, but unlike a lot of tubing mascaras it really seems to lengthen and give volume.

Another vote for Benefit Roller Lash.

Dior Pump n Volume.
I say this on every mascara thread, my boss came back one lunchtime and I thought she'd had extensions put in or at least a tiny. No. P&V.
I've tried over the years: every high street maz going, Lancome Hypnose, Benefit They're Real (cloggy and smells awful) Clinique (most recently "high impact" was on Bogof so I thought I'd give it a bash especially as Sali Hughes always wears it. Well, it might be "high impact" if you apply about 10 layers...)

Dior P&B is the bollocks, truly. One application and you're good to go all day. It doesn't just give "volume" it gives proper eyelashes.

funny I hate better than sex, it smudges all over the place for me. I guess it reacts to my concealer??

I like bobbi brown no smudge and also sensai (you can buy from harrod). Sensai is great, but a pain to take off.

I like MAC False Lash, and I am also a fan of Lancome's Monsieur Big. I always buy waterproof mascara, regardless of the brand.

TeddyIsaHe · 17/08/2020 10:04

I’ve just got No7 360 lash and wasn’t expecting much as No7 mascaras are usually shite, but I am pretty wowed by it! Lovely long fluttery lashes and no smudging. They do a waterproof one also.

vjg13 · 17/08/2020 10:20

Another massive vote for Dior pump and volume. I use the Dior eye make up remover to remove it. Was permanently on the quest for that perfect mascara before and have tried lots of more expensive ones.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 17/08/2020 10:27

I use soap and glory. It's pretty good I've been using it for years now.

MadameButterface · 17/08/2020 10:30

Wilko’s own brand all day. I have the lash princess one for doing going out out make up, and another one of theirs (can’t remember name) for day to day, and they’re the shit. And cruelty free. And £3.

Another vote for Benefit Roller Lash.

Mac False Lash

prettycatseyes · 17/08/2020 22:12

Iconic mascara is amazing..doesn't leave smudges, stays on all day..lengthens the lashes..best mascara I've ever used.

BenoneBeauty · 17/08/2020 22:17

Thank you all!

I bought the iconic blush and a mascara came free with it and I love it. Really made my eyes pop!

Deathraystare · 19/08/2020 17:57

I do like the Wilco ones and recently bought one from Maybelline but seem to have temporarily mislaid that particular make up bag (I have a few!). Most of my mascaras seem to be in that one! However I found my (blue top) Revlon volume and length (waterproof). It does the job and doesn't feel heavy like some and does seem to be waterproof - so I will wear it at tomorrow's funeral. I have often bought Revlon mascara

TheChosenTwo · 19/08/2020 18:58

I like the benefit roller lash too but it does flake off on me throughout the day so I have to keep checking which can be annoying. The roller liner though is the absolute best for me though.
My new mascara find is the hourglass unlocked instant extensions one. Not the caution one which was nice but not as good. This one is a new release, a tubing mascara and while I was expecting more initially, it wore beautifully and keeps my lashes separated and defined (not into the clumpy lash look so if you are, this one isn’t for you) and it doesn’t flake all day. Love it!

TheChosenTwo · 19/08/2020 18:59

Sorry, overuse of the word though Grin
