Anyone used a hair colour stripper?

Hi all, My dd dyed her hair using a semi permanent red colour about 2 months ago. she want a to get highlights but the hair dresser said she can't do it with traces of red in it as it will go orange. I was wondering if anyone had tried hair colour strippers/removers and whether you recommend any? Also would she then have to wait some time before getting highlights? TIA

I've used a boxed Colour B4 a few years ago and was really impressed with the results. Took me from built up black to a pale copper (undertones from the colour I'd been using) in 1 use. I tried to use a prelightener on it straight away after stripping colour to attempt to lift out the copper, wish I'd googled beforehand as my hair actually ended up darker (my research afterwards told me this would happen, some kind of opposite reaction occurs and it puts the pigment back in your hair when you try to lighten it straight away after stripping). You're meant to put a block colour on straight away after the colour stripper and wait a week or so before lightening.
Disclaimer - I am no hairdresser and recommend googling thoroughly beforehand!

I used VitC tablets and a dandruff shampoo on a burgandy ( it was caled Mahogany ...it was purple and made my grey hairs pink ) semi permanent dye .

Red tones fade the quickest .....but this clung steadfastly .

It took my hair back to normal colour . Can be drying so intensive conditioning before any more colour
And it doesn't smell like rotten egg like boxed removers do .

@eandz13 thank you. I had a quick look and it sounds so complicated! I'm not really into home dying and I'm wary of making things worse!

I use the Jo Baz Max colour remover (the one in the red box). Ive used it's several times to strip the bright red from my hair before I dye it copper blonde.

Works really well, doesn't cause any damage and you can colour over it straight away.

Found the photos of my Jo Baz results. Took it from the red colour back to the blonde (previously lightened, my natural colour is mousy) then dyed it copper blonde the next morning.

Yes if she has longer hair get x2 boxes. I’ve got very dark brown out of my hair and re-coloured to lighter brown.

Thanks all, will give the Jo Baz one a go.
