We're off on holiday tomorrow - a week in the Peak District, a week on the Sussex coast, and it looks like the weather is going to be...variable at best. I'm trying to take clothes that will do for a variety of situations, work with each other, and can be layered. So far I'm thinking:

  • two pairs of jeans, one skinny for under wellies, one boyfriend that can be cuffed to wear with sandals.
  • one hooded waterproof jacket, one hooded down jacket, one smart blazer
  • two cashmere jumpers, both blue
  • two thin knit tops, one cream, one pale pink
  • two t-shirts, one white, one navy
  • black v-neck top that can be dressed up or down
  • pale green silk shirt
  • one pair of shorts
  • one vest top
  • blue wrap dress, in case we go anywhere nice
  • cream sundress, in case we get a warm day
  • extremely optimistic swimsuit
  • trainers, sandals and wellies

What else do I need? What should I leave behind? I'm debating taking my tan knee-high boots, that work with the skinny jeans and the wrap dress, but are less waterproof than my wellies (more than my trainers though). Is it just too much stuff? I will be able to wash things while I'm away.

Help me, please!

A LOT more t-shirts!

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 16/08/2020 10:30

Ok, I have a cream cardie I can pack, and I'll add a couple more T-shirts, thanks.

What else?

What are you planning to do in the Peak District? I live on the edge of the northern Peaks and it’s chilly today, but not down jacket cold.

Countmeout · 16/08/2020 12:55

Yes to the cardigan and T-shirts. Maybe a stretchy legging type or jogger for comfort .

I feel the cold. Spent a week in Cornwall last year utterly miserable because of it. Plus it's one of those ones that's squashed down into its only bag, so won't take up much room.

Yep, I'll add some leggings

What are you wearing to bed/evening on sofa? I would pack 2x joggers and comfy jumpers.
Want more than one set in case they get smelly off food cooking ect

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 16/08/2020 13:06

I'm taking my silk pyjamas and robe. I'm also taking my memory foam pillow. Sleep is important. Smile

Inconsiderately the DC are insisting they need clothes too, and the case is rapidly filling up.

A decent set of waterproof everything, if today is anything to go by.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 16/08/2020 15:30
Sad

We may have to buy those. Or just stay indoors.

You seem to have quite a lot of smart stuff. Silk shirt, blazer, wrap dress, sun dress, black top. Are you planning to go out a lot? I would tend towards hoodie/gilet but my holidays tend to feature windswept beaches and damp picnics.

Passthecake30 · 16/08/2020 17:35

I’ve had a few long weekends over the last couple of weeks, I’ve worn clothes from a bikini, short shorts and sandals to jeans, T-shirt and rain coast... pack everything!

My idea of hell! Planning on antiqueing and high tea and museums and meals out. Grin

I’m intrigued about where in the Peak District you are visiting. Buxton?

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 16/08/2020 17:48

Staying somewhere called Alfreton? I don't know anything about it, a family member booked it. We're also spending a few days somewhere called Oundle.

We are meeting up with family - plenty of willing babysitters around so DH and I will hopefully get a couple of date nights!

Ah yes, a few antique shops in Alfreton.
