Oasis website back up - is it legit?

Oasis-stores website is back up, everything with 40% discount.

The Karen Millen website is still around too. I'm not sure they ever went into administration properly like Warehouse and Oasis did. I bought a KM dress last summer, it's nice, I'll keep it and wear it but the quality used to be up there with Reiss and Jigsaw and their designs were edgy but they aren't the same anymore.

I know that Oasis and Warehouse were bought up by Boohoo in June. I don't want to support Boohoo because I think their quality is poor and I would question the efficacy of their manufacturing.

Even when I do buy fast fashion I'm in my 40s so my shape & style isn't going to change much. I've got TopShop and Oasis clothes I've owned for over a decade and I prefer not to support truly questionable/cheap brands. I'd rather spend more and buy fewer.

The website looks legit, same branding but you can't filter on the site like you used to be able to.

Does anyone know anything about the new Oasis site? Or have you bought from them?

I bought from the warehouse site last week and the clothes arrived promptly. Looks to be the same quality - we’ll see how they wash!

I'd be interested to know, you can't tell the quality from the website.

It's all summery so it'a probably stock that was sold across as part of the deal - I'd buy now if you want something as I reckon the autumn/winter stuff will be made by Boohoo's suppliers.

Laaalaaaa · 14/08/2020 22:23

Some of the stock on the website are definitely old Oasis items. Will be interesting to see what direction Boohoo takes them in. Certainly don’t expect the quality to be the same. Some oasis items I’ve had over 10 years

Boohoo clothing was made at the Leicester factory where they worked throughout lockdown and made the upsurge-- you'd really consider buying anything from such an unethical company?

There's warehouse and oasis stock in house of Fraser stores - bought a lovely oasis blouse in the sale this week

Karen millennia owned by Boohoo too. But they're keeping it as a separate website etc to appear to be a different brand (like Arcadia group do). Boohoo are essentially trading on Karen Millen's reputation and so can charge much more than they could on the Boohoo website.

I can't comment on whether they also make things in a way to improve the quality for the KM pieces (but am sceptical!), but the money goes into Boohoo's pockets regardless.

No I wouldn't, in part that's what this post is about. I want to buy ethically, Oasis and Warehouse bridged the gap between super fast fashion and higher end brands like Jigsaw or Reiss.

That be said I'll try to read up on the conditions in the Leicester factory.

I live not too far from a factory which makes high end skincare. They worked all through the pandemic and have been very much ahead of the crowd in terms of safe working and looking after their staff. They've had no cases of Covid there.

Even if a factory worked through lockdown doesn't necessarily mean that they were being unethical.

That is not a defence of the Boohoo factory, as I say I'll read up on their Leicester factory. I've found Boohoo quality to be poor, they have a reputation for being unethical and I would avoid buying from them.

Not sure about Oasis but I would be wary. I recently bought from Karen Millen as they had 40% off everything. The stuff was lovely and I kept it all. When I got my credit card statement it said Boohoo.com. I didn’t know I was buying from Boohoo and the website looks exactly like the original Karen Millen website.

DieSchottin93 · 15/08/2020 14:53

I did get an email from them saying they were bought buy Boohoo in June as mentioned already. Have you got a Debenhams nearby? My local Debenhams still had the Oasis concession in there with some good discounts, presumably to shift the stock.
