Something like lounge trousers but wearable outside?

I have loved living in loungewear, I can't go back to a constricted stomach. I've been wearing wide leg lounge pants with a soft elasticated waist but they're not wearable outside the house. I've always been in jeans before but I'd love to switch to an acceptable trouser that's smarter than the lounge trousers but as similar as possible. Is this a holy grail that doesn't exist?

Following! I essentially stay in my PJs all day since lockdown. Would be good to have some loungewear I’d not be embarrassed to open the door in

Decisivelyindecisive · 13/08/2020 12:38

Next Black Jcropped jeggings/ trousers ...thick enough to be worn as Jean's (not see through!), textured, no zip / buttons just stretchy comfy goodness and yet look smart! £22 a pair

Sorry £20

Vinopoly · 13/08/2020 12:54

Are they quite tight @Decisivelyindecisive ? I'm a 10-12 so never know which to plump for!

Newlook have 2 styles of cotton 'joggers' , I've bought some and they are super comfy , lightweight and perfectly acceptable to wear outside !

I don't seem to be able to link them but if you type in blue Aztec Joggers they come up

AriettyHomily · 13/08/2020 13:04

Next joggers they used to be called harem pants.

23trains · 13/08/2020 13:11

I’ve just bought these from M&S, part of their sportswear range but I’ve been wearing them round the house and just wore them to Waitrose - if they’re good enough for doing sports, they’re good enough for supermarket shopping (and very comfortable)

Jellybean100 · 13/08/2020 13:54

Wide legged culottes?

CourtneyLurve · 13/08/2020 14:17

H&M so some comfy pull on trousers.

Oly4 · 13/08/2020 15:53

I was eyeing up those M&S ones the other day, fab quality for the price

Ponks · 13/08/2020 16:04

At the moment, wide leg linen trousers. I've got some old ones from Next and M&S, but Arket have some nice looking ones.

RiseUpWiseUpEyesUp · 13/08/2020 16:05

I live in these type of trousers from Sainsburys

tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/p/Navy-Daisy-Print-Drapey-Trousers/137225462-Navy?searchTerm=:newArrivals&searchProduct=

Any of the “drapey” ones are mega comfy and they always have new styles. Their cotton joggers are good too, I haven’t worn trousers with buttons/zips in years Grin

Vinopoly · 13/08/2020 16:32

@RiseUpWiseUpEyesUp they're out of stock but hopefully they'll get more in!

Following too I've been living in gym gear and shorts for the past few months. I even wear them out in public too. Even my neighbour commented they haven't seen me "dressed" in ages lol.

Redact · 13/08/2020 19:01

Lululemon on the fly trousers are really comfy

Gekeos · 13/08/2020 19:15

Hush harem trousers super comfy but tapered in at the bottom. I love them.

mrschocolatte · 13/08/2020 21:04

I bought these palazzo trousers about a month ago (based on a thread recommendation on S&B) and they have been a dream to wear out and about. A really good (but pricey) purchase - but worth every penny!

Next Jersey joggers - they are like harem trousers.

Elouera · 13/08/2020 21:10

I've got trousers from asda which are cool (linen), elastic waist, cheap and despite being linen, any creases seem to fall once I'm wearing them. Plus, a great price. I got black ones, which I can't see for home delivery anymore, but you might find some in store.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 13/08/2020 21:12

Lands' End Starfish slim leg trousers might suit you. Or Uniqlo Ultra Stretch (there are usually a few different styles). I'm very apple-shaped and both of those styles are soft around the waist and not too baggy on the hips.

Enderman · 13/08/2020 21:16

I have these, they’re so comfy. There are various types.

WokusPocus · 13/08/2020 21:17

I second Uniqlo - I have some super light weight trousers from them that I have lived in recently.

I've got these on at the moment. Comfy and perfectly acceptable to wear outside

Vinopoly · 14/08/2020 07:04

Some great suggestions, thank you! I'm working through them all. One question re harem pants: are they flattering? I'm not sure if all the bunching would make me look bulky!

Saint & Sofia - I have the Putney pants and the wide legs. So comfy but also look smart Would happily wear to work with a shirt/blouse but also look good with a T shirt
