Non dying eye shadows

I'm 40 and got a Rimmel eye shadow the other day as I was out of eye shadows(I know!!) and it was the cheapest where I was and I had to absolutely rub it on. It felt like sandpaper! Is it that my eye lids are dry or are there just better eye shadows out there? I don't really want to get into wearing an eyelid primer but is that what I have to do from now on or do I have to start buying expensive eye shadows? Thanks!

Probably a dry formula. Do you have a NYX or Makeup Revolution stand by you? They're good quality and not high end

ELF is also another good cheaper brand

I have absolutely no idea how much they are so this recommendation may be useless but I was thinking yesterday how amazing the eyeshadow palette I got as part of a beauty box subscription is. It's by Steve Laurant, powder but goes on with excellent coverage and lasted from 7:30am til 10pm yesterday in almost 30 degree heat with lots of toddler cuddles too.

Primark shadows are really good

Maxfactor is my go to for eyeshadows, lovely colours, and they go on the eyelid beautifully. Very soft too.

Thanks so much everyone (so much!), I thought people were going to say no, it's a thing with your eyelids!!!Thank you!!!

Also, forgive me it stating the obvious, but are you applying eyeshadow with an eyeshadow brush rather than the applicators they come with? I know it's more of a faff but I think it makes such a difference to the coverage and how long it lasts.

TheFutureIs · 13/08/2020 15:36

@Acunningruse that one is gorgeous isn't it! I also really rate cream shadows if you don't mind just one colour

Bananaman123 · 13/08/2020 21:37

if you have dry eyelids try a bit of your eye cream on first, apply with a brush, another vote for primark and revolution. Primark also have some liquid onez that dry matte, they are really good and quick to use, dont feel drying

Rimmel colours look nice in the palette, but they don't go on well. I like Maybelline eye shadows, and they're pretty cheap. Christian Dior is the best, in my view, for texture, but Maybelline is a whole load cheaper, and is really nice. Like said above, don't use the applicator, use a brush.

Acunningruse was using the applicators, will get onto brushes, thanks!
Bananaman123 thanks for that!!!
And cbt944 thank you too!!
