Can I use hairspray on a 5 year old?

I have used silvikrin maximum hold hairspray on DD5 a few times. Is it ok to use it everyday (school) on her hair to keep the curls in?
She sleeps with curlformers in so no heat is used on her hair. I also wash it every other day with a rinse with water in between so the spray will be washed off.
If not are there any child friendly hair sprays that keep the curls in place?

Her hairdresser says the hairspray is fine everyday as long as I brush it out and wash it off properly.

The her hairdresser isn’t very well informed. There’s lots of chemicals in hairspray that are dangerous when they’re sprayed as they’re inhaled easily when they’re in the air. Brushing it out or washing won’t help with that.

It seems like you’re going to carry on doing it anyway, so it’s all a bit pointless.

Shock you're teaching your tiny child to focus on her looks, that she needs to fix how she looks, that there's a right way to look, that children should play with make up...

This is one of the saddest things I've read on here. It's abusive.

100% agree. As a former child model myself.

Using hairspray every day is potentially quite harmful, not to the hair but by breathing it in!!

MoltonSilver · 13/08/2020 12:23

This is the strangest post I've seen in a while. Hairspray and curls every day for a 5 year old at school is very unusual. I'm picturing a spray tan by 6 and HD brows at 8 .

Hairspray makes the hair stiff and brittle so it's more likely to break.
**@LittleBearPad* @EleanorOalike* Like kids makeup for play and bath/shower products. Not kids foundation or anythingGrin
I didn’t assume it was foundation. Little girls get to learn that plastering themselves in cheap chemicals makes them pretty. Great 🤬

You don’t really get five year old models.

You get the deranged superficial parents of five year olds deciding they will be models, instead of being decent parents allowing their children to enjoy their childhood instead of working, and encouraging their children to find something other than their appearance important.

You’re doing a shitty shitty job of raising a child.

CaptainMyCaptain · 14/08/2020 14:06

That's a bit harsh @trixibelden77 one of my grandsons used to do a bit of modelling before he started school, mainly toys for Littlewoods catalogue. His hair was quite natural and he wasn't interested in faffing with it until his pre-teens. He just enjoyed playing with the toys. Another one was in a short film for a Local Authority about reading with your child. It doesn't have to be horrible and, in fact, they don't like working with children who don't take to it naturally as, apart from distressing the child, they are only allowed to work in very short bursts and it's too expensive to have footage they can't use.

What's East Asian hair? Straight? Or a bit of a kink

Have you tried using a silk pillowcase for her to sleep on? Stop tangles.
