Jersey dress

I'm looking for a jersey summer dress. I picture something which is fitted, but not necessarily bodycon, knee length, easy wear, perhaps floral. I'm a size 8-10 but late 40s so it needs to be a bit more grown up than most of the flighty dresses I can find. I saw someone in a gorgeous one today and am kicking myself that I didn't go and ask where she bought it.

I'd be wearing it as an everyday dress, so no unnecessary frills, zips or anything fancy!

Has anyone seen one?

Have you looked at Boden? They have lots in different styles.

Beebumble2 · 12/08/2020 15:54

I’ve just discovered Weird Fish. Their Tallahassee jersey dress is great and sounds like what your looking for. It’s lovely quality.
I bought it on speck in a shop sale, then looked at the website where it was cheaper in their sale. I ordered a second one and another different style.

AnnaSW1 · 12/08/2020 15:59

It sounds like you are describing a Boden or fat face dress

CushionsandCandles · 12/08/2020 16:07

Problem with jersey is that unless it is lined it always clings and shows every wobble however slim you are!

bruffin · 12/08/2020 16:09

i agree with Weird fish , I have a few of the Tallahassee dresses in different prints and they are so comfortable.

minipie · 12/08/2020 17:26

Boden. Their jersey is a bit thicker than many so washes and fits well.
Try several styles as they have different types of jersey for different dresses.

hedgehogger1 · 12/08/2020 17:45

Def Boden. I like the phoebe dresses

bruffin · 12/08/2020 18:24

The weird fish dresses are thicker as well

readwritelove · 12/08/2020 18:26

Boden Amelie dresses.

hammeringinmyhead · 12/08/2020 19:18

I like Brakeburn for florals.

Peachypips78 · 12/08/2020 19:28

Joules also...

Beebumble2 · 12/08/2020 19:35

Whilst the Boden dresses are suitable , they’re not always cotton. Viscose and elastine would be very hot in this weather.

SparklesAllOver · 12/08/2020 19:37

Another vote for Boden, great quality and lots in sale for your size right now.

Cherry321 · 12/08/2020 19:42

Lots of nice jersey dresses in sea salt. Usually quite patterned, but depends what floats your boat.

rottiemum88 · 12/08/2020 19:57

I have this one from M&S, bought in the sale recently:

Not floral, but the mustard yellow colour is actually really nice and I find the fit to be flattering. I'm a size 8-10 and bought the 8, which is plenty big enough

tiredandgrumpy · 12/08/2020 20:02

Thanks all. Some great suggestions. I think Weird Fish looking most promising so far.

Another vote for Boden, all their jersey dresses wash and wear brilliantly

groovergirl · 13/08/2020 05:18

I vote for Boden too. I bought my first 'Amelie' jersey dress on the advice of Mumsnetters and have been wearing the hell out of it. It's a cap-sleeve fit-and-flare with a ruched waistband and flowy knee-length skirt.

I'm 54 and at the pudgy end of size 12, but my Amelie makes me look so graceful.

One MNer told me she owned eight Amelies!

Zuilly

Catsandallthingscrazy · 13/08/2020 17:53

I like white stuff Jersey dresses but as mentioned previously , they do tend to cling to excess curves!

Partayyyyy · 13/08/2020 18:08

Have you thought to have a look at skater dresses ?there a lovely cut and not to clingy ebay have some lovely ones very cheap

sorryiasked · 13/08/2020 18:13

Try mountain warehouse (I know, not the obvious place but worth a look)

Mere1 · 13/08/2020 20:25

I wouid definitely recommend White Stuff and Seasalt.

clarehhh · 14/08/2020 07:36

Agree Boden or possibly White Stuff, both usually have a good discount if you look.
