Highlights too warm - how to correct

Hi al!

I had a balayage done on Saturday and while it was lovely, I just wanted a couple more bits around the face. I went back to the hairdresser who was lovely and agreed to add some more. Unfortunately the bits she's added are really really warm (almost orange) as opposed to the lovely colour of the rest of the hair.

I don't feel like I can go back again, but does anyone know what I can put on my hair to get rid of the warm tones? Would purple shampoo work, or is there a toner that you can buy (in boots or Superdrug) that would help? Product names would be great!

Thank you in advance!

sounds like the bleach wasn't left on quite long enough to take out the red/orange tones.

You could try Fanola no yellow ( I get it on Amazon. If you just apply to the warm toned ends it will take the warmth down a couple of notches. It won't work on the rest of your hair if it's brown, as I think your hair needs to be lightened to level 6 or above for it to work. I'm level 8 and it completely ashifies (not a real word!) my whole head of hair, which has been a godsend during lockdown.

purple shampoo is for yellow tones. Blue shampoo can be used for orange tones but it depends if the highlights are light enough in the first place

You're absolutely right. You need Fanola no orange, sorry. Grin

I totally have the same thing going on. Went to get it correct and they just dyed it darker... it has faded after two washes and looks coppery again - not great as I have cool toned skin. Might have to bite the bullet and abandon my lovely local hairdresser and go into central London - George Northwood or Josh Wood maybe... gulp... but you wear your hair every day....(?!)
