Straight trousers or jeans

Hi,

I follow this thread regularly as there’s some great ideas but I’m after some help and I think this is the perfect place to start.

I start a new job in two weeks which requires smart office wear but then I also need to go onto a work site wearing ankle clumpy safety boots for part of the day every day.

Ive got tops , cardigans and jackets but am really struggling with trousers. I normally wear bootcut as they suit my shape but I think they’ll look awful with the work boots.

I’m hoping this is allowed but I’ve been searching Pinterest and found these two trouser styles I think would work. I’m not sure they’d suit me as I’m much much larger than the women in the pictures but worth a try.

The thing is I can’t work out if they are trousers or jeans and where I might find something similar.

Can anyone help? Thanks

Gap www.dunelondon.com/guiltt-2-snaffle-loafer-black-0076500620013484/ those links look like skinny Jean's

Livy178 · 09/08/2020 09:23

Both pairs look like skinny jeans to me.

Apolloanddaphne · 09/08/2020 09:35

They definitely look like skinny jeans rather than straight leg trousers.

Thanks, the gap ones a lovely but don’t go up to my size.

Are there any other good places to buy smart skinny jeans? The ones I’ve seen in next just don’t look smart but maybe that’s just because I’m used to wearing trousers

OP do you want straight as per your thread title, or do you want skinny as per the photos you shared?

If you like and suit bootcut I would wear them. I don't think the work boots would be a big issue?

cuppycakey · 09/08/2020 12:03

Oh, and you say you are required to wear "smart office wear" so to me that would exclude any jeans at all, sorry.

Southeast15 · 09/08/2020 12:56

@cuppycakey I agree the jeans aren’t smart office wear but they look really smart in these photos. When I’ve looked at them in shops they look far to causal.
I thought straight leg might be more versatile than the bootcut but it looks like I’m going to staying with the faithfuls 😄

I've found a great pair from Matalan which are a straight leg with a bit of stretch. They are only £14. Ive ended up buying three pairs. I need smart trousers that I can wear with boots too.

Southeast15 · 09/08/2020 14:04

@OnceBitten25 these sound great, do they have a style name or anything so that I can have a look for them?

I don't think so - just papaya work wear straight leg. Will see if I can find a screenshot

M&S tapered trousers might be a good compromise between straight and skinny. I've got several pairs for work.
