One of my acquaintances has been raving about it but I see there's a monthly £10 fee, is it worth it? Are the products any good?

I’ve just joined. The cheapest membership is £5, however you don’t get to buy much with that level as the purchase limit is based on the full ‘retail price’ of the goods not the actual price and these retail prices seem rather high Hmm. My first experience is that the products do seem good, and it’s handy to get everything in the post. I am going to save up my months before I buy again to save on postage and ensure I have more of a limit to buy from.

CarlottaValdez · 09/08/2020 06:50

It’s ok. I have a membership and I love the products but I’ve got quite frustrated recently because so much is out of stock. I try to buy a lot at once because as a PP said the postage is quite steep. However I can never seem to get everything I want in stock at once. Also I had a nice routine sorted that I was happy with but can’t get the vitamin c serum now and it’s been out of stock for ages.

Overall wouldn’t recommend. I bought a year membership but won’t renew.

DarlingCoffee · 09/08/2020 06:52

I’ve just found my referral link so you can get your membership free for the first month. Full disclosure I get my spending limit increased for the month from this.

It's really good! Not so much the make up,although there are the odd good bits, but most the skincare/body care is excellent. I pay £15 monthly. Also you can sometimes buy top ups. Saving up your allowance for a few months is what most people do.

I let my allowance build up so I only need to order roughly every three months. The postage is the same each time. £3.40 so a larger order makes more sense.

Happy to recommend products if you like and also what to avoid Grin

PimlicoJo · 09/08/2020 07:06

I really like the skincare, really nice products.

Isol · 09/08/2020 07:57

This comes up as a question every so often on Mumsnet and I do wonder if there are Beauty Pie advertising bots on here.

I tried the £5 membership for three months (the minimum) and I cancelled.

The RRP of products is, I think, over exaggerated (and I buy premium brands). Once you add your £5 membership and the postage to the order, and things you don’t really need but want to make the most of your allowance, it’s not such a bargain - mine came to about £40-50 for an order. I kind of felt compelled to spend that to make the most of my spending allowance.

Things that I thought were good was the Japanfusion range and the sunscreen. It was just sucking me into buying stuff I didn’t need.

PimlicoJo · 09/08/2020 08:49

Isol I agree, I like the concept but the non members prices they quote are ridiculous. I really like the skincare products I've tried and my skin has benefitted, probably from sticking to one range, but I wouldn't say they are best value for money. It works for me and sitting down and ordering skincare once a month has stopped me making impulse buys but it wouldn't be for everyone.

CarlottaValdez · 09/08/2020 10:17

Yes I like quite like the products but some of the non member prices are properly hilarious. I ordered a body scrub today for £10 which is about right. It’s certainly not “worth” £40.

CarlottaValdez · 09/08/2020 10:18

Actually just checked and their claiming it’s £50 worth. Fuck off quite frankly.

CarlottaValdez · 09/08/2020 10:20

I can’t even find a body scrub on sale for £50 anywhere. So I’ll see out the membership but won’t be renewing

AliceinBunnyland · 09/08/2020 10:32

I'm interested in this but I don't need anything at the moment and think I'd end up buying things I don't need

I don't get the memberships. If I did a £5 membership I can order up to £50 rrp worth of product but pay the lower price plus the £5 plus postage

And if I roll over my credits then I'm still paying the £5 every month 🤔

Some of the skincare looks nice but a lot of the make up looks like it's copying bobbi brown, Charlotte Tilbury etc

plunkplunkfizz · 09/08/2020 10:50

The make up is supposed to look like a copy. They are intended as dupes for high end products but sold to us as at a lower price. They need to telegraph what they are duping without being explicit otherwise it’s a bit pointless.

EnoughAlready2020 · 09/08/2020 11:06

I really like the products. I'm severely allergic to a chemical found in a lot of beauty products and I find it's so easy to check full ingredients list on BP. I really like having the control of trying out new products (unlike the subscription boxes I used to buy) and I think the products are high quality.

I was actually recommended BP on here!

AliceinBunnyland · 09/08/2020 11:11

I'm not into that tbh. The palette that looks like the CT face palette for example is completely different colours and who who k ones if the quality is the same

LunaNorth · 09/08/2020 11:14

I subscribed thinking the allowance was based on their prices, not the supposed ‘retail’ price.

I find it okay but not brilliant. The Japanfusion cleanser is good, and the eyeliners are brilliant. The Philip Kingsley Elasticizer dupe is crap, as is the tinted primer.

Mixed bag. I doubt I’ll renew my membership.

AliceinBunnyland · 09/08/2020 11:14

The products do look nice

I think I've only just got my head around now it works

Someone recommended it to me on here when I was looming for a beauty gift for a friend but it seems like if I paid for a three months subscription all she gets is the opportunity to buy from them at the "member" prices for 3 months and would have to spend her own money to buy things and get them delivered.

PonfusedCarent · 09/08/2020 12:07

@LunaNorth

Yes! I realised that about the retail price yesterday and I started to wonder if it's glorified Avon in nicer packaging?!

Unless there was something to blow it out of the water, I think I'd rather shop at Cult Beauty or Beauty Bay with some cheaper finds.

OP posts:
PersonaNonGarter · 09/08/2020 18:34

I am a member.

Yesterday I was asked for feedback on all the products that I have bought over the last three months and I realised that most were average or crap. There are a couple of great ones but you are better off saving your cash for offers at Look Fantastic or Cult Beauty.

pigletpie2177 · 09/08/2020 21:49

Totally meh. Did it for the three months then cancelled. Skincare chock full of silicone and hugely inflated RRPs which means your allowance won't go too far. The only thing I found which I genuinely liked was the bath range soul providers.

lookatallthosechickens · 09/08/2020 21:55

I worked in marketing and we did some promotions for BP when it was first launched and it’s such a ripoff. Everyone I know who was involved is genuinely shocked that they’ve done as well as they have. Create a fake demand by only ‘allowing’ you to buy a certain amount of massively marked-up products? Collect membership fees that in many cases are never redeemed since people forget what they are saving up for or just get frustrated because what they want just HAPPENS to always be out of stock? I can’t believe so many of you fall for it. They saw you coming a mile away.
