Crocs for teenagers

MyFriendGiraffrey · 06/08/2020 23:13

I need help! I'm looking for "cool Crocs" as requested for a teenage girl's birthday present.

I know they're comfy and I suppose as the saying goes, "quality never goes out of fashion" but I'm obviously so out of touch and I don't know where to start.

The request is for "cool", platform, patterned, clog type.

Can anybody point me in the right direction please.

I've ordered twice from the crocs UK website with no problems, for my son and I.
Crocs are ugly but very comfy Grin

MyFriendGiraffrey · 06/08/2020 23:40

Oh I'm under no illusions as to how comfortable they are believe me! It's just that given the brief for looking cool from a fashion conscious 15 year old, Hmm I just don't know where to start. They all look the same to me Blush

Do you think they are teasing you? It seems like an impossible challenge, I would ask them which ones they want or give them the cash!

MoltonSilver · 07/08/2020 09:03

Trying to figure out what a teenager thinks is cool is a bit on a minefield. I'd suggest opening the crocs website and letting her choose them herself.

moveandmove · 07/08/2020 09:07

Are you sure they're not winding you up? There's no such thing as cool crocs and I very much doubt any teenagers would be seen dead in crocs.

Hazelnutlatteplease · 07/08/2020 09:08

That sounds very specific. My guess is something like this but i cant find it patterned

You could get patterns but not platforms.

If check. It sounds something specific that is very easy to get wrong

MoltonSilver · 07/08/2020 10:23

She could be talking about these - Balenciaga, but I suspect it's more than you were planning to spend.

Playdoughbum · 07/08/2020 10:26

Crocs are back in style apparently. Ariana Grande was wearing them and I’ve seen a few. With sports socks ...

Greywind1523 · 07/08/2020 10:30

I think a few celebs have been wearing them and they’re now seen as cool amongst some teens.

Some of them are pattered on the edge of the the sole only which I suppose makes them look like platforms.

Best bet is to get her to look on the website and send through details of the ones she likes.

Those £645 rubber platform crocs Shock they just scream sprained or possibly broken ankle. A very expensive injury.

Most 15 year-olds are old hands at finding exactly what they want online and sending links. With my teens, we agree a birthday budget and they find the fashion items they would like online. It's easier for everyone.
Hopefully they're are lower platform crocs available. ASOS online are good for 5 minute fashions like these.

SmileyClare · 07/08/2020 10:42

I just typed girl's platform croc into the ASOS website and there are a few at around £50 with platform soles, starting at size 3. The electric pink ones on there are a dupe for the Balenciaga ones with a slightly more sensible height platform.

SmileyClare · 07/08/2020 11:08

You can buy the croc charms separately on Amazon to embellish them.

I never stopped wearing crocs or birkenstocks.
Crocs are the best beach shoes, and I have them as back door shoes.

ZolaGrey · 07/08/2020 15:09

Birkenstock do a style called Eva that is croc style material is waterproof etc but in the style of Birkenstock's. I have some for beach etc and they're great.

I don't know if these are cool, probably not because I like them... but they're as practical as crocs whilst being (to my eyes!) a lot less horrible.

mimiasovitch · 07/08/2020 20:29

The platform crocs someone linked to up thread are definitely in at the moment. Both my teens wear them, without shame. No socks though.

MyFriendGiraffrey · 07/08/2020 21:35

My first thought was that they were winding me up! But no, absolutely a serious request. A quick search and I've found articles that some celebs are wearing them and yes they are currently fashionable.

I've had a look at the links above and they are more expensive than I expected them to be. I think a talk about budget and requesting some specific links might be in order.

Thanks everyone.
