Work golf day but not playing- what to wear?

I'm going on a golf day with my team, I dont play so I'm going to drive the buggy for a bit and then get a treatment at the spa.

What do you wear on a golf course? It's a jolly day rather than a formal one.

Maxi dress and sandals?

StCharlotte · 05/08/2020 23:57

Tea dress and wedges. Have fun!

Jeez, who’s bright idea was it to have a golf day? I hate pointless away days like this.

Flat shoes not wedges.
Definitely not jeans

Double check there aren't any requirements at the golf club. Some have certain rules like no bare shoulders etc.

m0use · 06/08/2020 06:13

Google the course, some are stricter than others. If you're on the course/going into the clubhouse generally you'll be expected to follow the code, eve though you aren't playing.

Obviously without just being an office outing you cam get away with a bit more, but expect daggers if you wander about in a maxi and wedges...

*with just being an office outing

Fit in. Wear something similar to players, but need not be cut in ways that allow for swing.

I'd wear narrow Capris, a polo shirt or a sleeved or sleeveless shirt (something with a collar in case they're stuffy) and flat shoes - newish (unstained/unscuffed) Converse or similar, good trainers or as you won't be playing, loafers or espadrilles

I'd agree with EdithWeston, a floaty dress and wedges might be ok if this was some large country club and you weren't leaving the building and gardens. But if you are actually going on the course and mingling with players, then I'd go more sports smart-casual. Have you tried getting in and out a golf buggy in strappy sandals and a long dress??!

I'd go trousers and flats, I can't find or be bothered to spend ages the exact thing I mean but something like this. Also definitely check out the dress code. Golf clubs are unfortunately very conservative about such things.

Not a floaty dress which would probably be against club rules and could get stuck on wheels of buggy.

Cheesecakejar · 06/08/2020 08:44

Wedges on a golf course 🤣🤣🤣

Hobnobsandbroomstick · 06/08/2020 12:16

I've driven around in a golf buggy in a floaty maxi dress and sandals plenty of times (obviously would dress differently if I was actually playing), the only way your dress could get stuck in the wheels would be if you had a wedding dress train or something Grin.

I guess for a work thing it's probably safer to fit in and dress like you're actually playing, so polo shirt and capris.
