What’s your favourite classic silk shirt brand?

The sort of thing that looks good with trouser suit, jeans or leather trousers, going for casual elegance.

Winser London make verybeautiful silk shirts, though they are pricey. (The sizes are huge.)

Gingefringe · 04/08/2020 17:26

I love the Boden silk shirts - I have several but got most off eBay.

OhRosalind · 04/08/2020 17:52

Sezane and Equipment. Flattering, slimline cuts that drape perfectly and look elegant but effortless.

cocorico42 · 04/08/2020 18:25

Sézane. Beautiful prints and good quality.

bookish83 · 04/08/2020 20:09

I have never seen them in person but noticed H&M sell silk items x

BloomedAgain · 04/08/2020 20:13

I have an equipment shirt I got second-hand years ago and it's still going strong.

Chocolateteabag · 04/08/2020 20:38

Like GF - I have a lovely Boden silk shirt - but I got it via eBay

Pure Collection also do similar silk shirts to Boden, and again mine is via Ebay.

I also have a shirt from Reiss which might not be silk but is very drapey, but again (sense a pattern) I got it from ebay

(I can't justify spending £££ on clothes which I may get coffee or pen marks on, but I do like nice clothes)

Chocolateteabag · 04/08/2020 20:39

Actually scratch that, I can't justify spending £££ on clothes full stop - its too ingrained in me to look for a bargain. Also second hand makes me feel morally good too from a sustainability POV

Pikachubaby · 04/08/2020 21:02

I love silk

I bought this beautiful green silk shirt that made my green eyes pop (or so Zi said), wore it to a dinner party, host asks “why you wearing a PJ top?”

Could not wear it after that Sad

M&S and HM sometimes do them

Saurus72 · 04/08/2020 21:05

& Other Stories do lovely silk shirts. Great quality but I usually only buy in sales.

frivolitynow · 04/08/2020 21:07

Uniqlo has some now in the Ines de la Fressange line, a white/cream, burgundy, navy and polka dots.

MrsGrindah · 04/08/2020 21:10

Me + Em has a gorgeous floral one that I’m lusting after but at £275 it’s not going to happen.

MrsGrindah · 04/08/2020 21:15

Also try Equipment. Often in the fashion pages of mags ,but sadly out off my price range too

Immigrantsong · 05/08/2020 09:42

I get mine from Boden when in sale or M&S also when on sale.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/08/2020 10:00

M&S usually do a couple, and you can often get money off.

Ellewoods20 · 05/08/2020 10:12

Lilysilk are good

Floisme · 05/08/2020 10:23

I buy them in vintage / charity shops, dress agencies and weigh n pay sales. Haven't found any recently for obvious reasons but the older they are, the better the quality, and often they're hardly worn because they were saved for best.

I agree about Boden though - found one in a charity shop that's lovely and, if I was buying new, I'd look there first.

BorsetshireBlueBalls · 05/08/2020 18:11

I have two Jaeger silk shirts which I got half price in the sale, years ago. I dry clean and they keep going strong. They have a lovely, weighty drape to them.

I have a short-sleeved one from Jigsaw, also long standing. It's black with milky coffee coloured butterflies on it. I've spilt tea down it and it doesn't show.

I have a DVF printed, black, sheer one, which I hardly wear, but have invested in the proper undergarment now, and am determined to rock it this autumn/winter!

Murrfect · 05/08/2020 19:17

You guys are amazing some great ideas here

I was searching equipment (which are perfect!) and Boden which I really like. Lilysilk are nice I’m sure I got pillow cases from them n the silk was lovely

I wish I had time to scour the sales and eBay but I need it by well 5 days 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’ve left it a bit late.

This site came up as recommended as I’ve looked from Me&Em and Pure recently too

thefable.uk/collections/silk-shirts/products/true-white

Has anyone heard of them? They had others which were nice too. My pure shirt has a button off it and I cannot find a match :(

I want a new one anyway though as it’s a bit see through after a lot of washing n that takes away the elegance a bit :D

OP posts:
Nowisthemonthofmaying · 05/08/2020 19:20

If its just the missing button that's the problem, could you not just replace all of them?

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 05/08/2020 19:21

X-post - i can understand wanting a new one in that case!

herethereandeverywhere · 05/08/2020 19:43

I've got my last few from TK Maxx - theory and DKNY brands.

Unsure whether you can search their website by material but worth a shot, otherwise it's rummage at the shop and hope to be lucky.

WhatWouldPennyDo · 05/08/2020 20:11

My favourites are Equipment, Winser and Hugo Boss. All have lovely weight to them.
