I'm only 36 but I feel old writing this, but what has happened to high street fashion?? I've been looking for some casual summer dresses, but everything is awful! Even online, some of the ways they're modelling the clothes doesn't make me want to rush out and buy. Where is everyone getting their summer clothes from?? Hmm

Toast & Hush..... Toast only for the summer dresses and a couple of jumpers....some of it can look a bit androgynous art teacher. Hush is best in the sale as it’s overpriced.

Mint velvet is ok, some whistles too.

It’s underwear I have the problem with!

londongirl12 · 02/08/2020 07:39

Not heard of Toast. Unfortunately I can't afford over £100 on a dress although there's some nice stuff on their site

Yep it’s all awful- 34 here, everything is cheap, see through and disposable, and only passable on a skinny 17 yr old.
Oasis and warehouse used to be my slight saving grace. I’d love to buy up all of Reiss but I don’t have a spare 3k this season.

LaundryBasketOfHell · 02/08/2020 07:51

And what is it with websites who put the models in oversized dresses and fugly sandals?

londongirl12 · 02/08/2020 08:43

And some of the models look high on drugs or haven't brushed their hair for a week.
I just want a nice dress that hasn't got massive balloon sleeves, a grandma pattern, or shows my bum cheeks Hmm

Neither can I Grin the sale & John Lewis sale are great - have never paid over £45.

Lyricallie · 02/08/2020 08:58

I feel you. I'm late 20s and my friends and I were having this chat. Like I just want something between an oversized top and a crop top.

I used to buy most of my stuff from oasis. However I have just ordered a lot of stuff from Mango and they had a sale on. It hasn't arrived yet so can't tell you how it went lol.

londongirl12 · 02/08/2020 09:22

I forget about Mango. I live near a big shopping centre, and so much has closed - Mango, Oasis, Warehouse, Zara was closed as it's having a refit. Miss Selfridge seems to young and short, Topshop has gone weird. River island had nothing I liked. And then the higher end places like Mint Velvet, Reiss etc I can't afford 🤦🏻‍♀️

Mango style is nice but it’s seemingly for very slim women- very Spanish esque. I’m not large but a curvy 12/ small 14 on my bottom and a 12 on top....no chance in Mango

emilybrontescorsett · 02/08/2020 09:34

Yes I'd second Mango but agree about the sizing.
Have you tried Matalan? I haven't shipped there this year but have bought dresses and summer stuff from there in the past.

ScarletZebra · 02/08/2020 09:35

I bought some nice summer dresses online from Debenhams. I can't wear polyester and a lot of their Labels were cotton.

namesnamesnamesnames · 02/08/2020 14:32

What is Hush sizing like?

AgnesNaismith · 02/08/2020 18:09

Hush is on the big size for dresses and quite long too, I’m size 10-12 but easily take a small, sometimes medium. Always check the reviews for more info!

namesnamesnamesnames · 09/08/2020 07:23

Thank you @AgnesNaismith

VallarMorghulis · 09/08/2020 10:11

What sort of things do you like OP? I've bought a few linen dresses from Vera Tucci Originals, they were only £25 each in the sale. They come in lots of colours and are very comfortable in a heatwave.
