I’ve a sudden urge for a pixie cut

I have shoulder length, thick, fairly curly auburn hair that I straighten. I also have widow’s peaky bits at the top that might give a funny hairline.

I suddenly want to cut all my hair off. I twiddle with it too much and it gets in the way and it’s too dry.
I have a slim face, getting slimmer with age (not in a good way)
Would I regret it? I don’t think it would look good if curly at all so would need to be kept very short, which would be a lot of maintenance, but I think it could suit me.

Yes! Go for it. It will grow back if you don't like it.

Just to add, I have my hair in a pixie style. Mine is naturally straight but very thin so no body to give it fullness. Its so quick to wash and dry, even if you did need to straighten it often it won't take long.

I got mine cut this week and so far I love it. My hair is thick and heavyy with waves more than curls. That was a hinderance before as it took ages to dry and straighten , but it helps my pixie cut to have a bit of volume and wave. I can wash it every day . It takes no time to dry it and I actually look like I’ve got a hair style

If you have thick hair I think a pixie can be easier than for someone like me who has fine hair and has to brave their hair being flat to their head or use loads of product.

I had my shoulder length hair cut into a pixie 18 months ago. With a pixie you can't hide behind your hair and it takes confidence, especially if you are older. You will also need to go to the hairdresser a lot more often, every 4 weeks for me.

A lot of people look amazing with really short hair, and there are benefits but I am growing mine out. Lockdown gave me the push to do it but being slim and petite with no curves I suppose I just wanted to feel a bit more feminine.

Ooh interesting I've been thinking about this too. But I have a fat face so not sure if it would look awful. Is anyone brave enough to post pics?

Having slept on the idea the urge has faded. I think my hair is too curly and would need so much upkeep.
The hairstyle I often go back to is attached but worry it would be a bit ageing.

IMO few people look good with a pixie cut. Your curly hair sounds great, would stop straightening and go for a curly style instead.

That's not a pixie cut - it'd soon grow back if you don't like it. I reckon you should go for it

Stop straightening it! I have a friend with thick curly hair. She looks amazing with it cut short. Go for it, it can always grow back. Anna C has great hair as well but everyone is changing things after lockdown so just go for it.

Maybe think about it a little while, the whole COVID situation appeared to be harder on people with shorter hair as it loses shape a lot quicker than longer cuts. I know I had no issues waiting months for a cut but everyone with short hair were getting family to trim it once it became unbearable

To me, AC's hair would look great if she had some layers cut into it but kept those curls.
