Need skincare recommendations!

Please could I have some skincare recommendations? I'm 35, my skin is extremely spotty at the moment, you could do a dot to dot on it today... also can be quite dry at points so when I'm putting foundation on you can see my dry skin quite badly. Had been using a face cream from Aldi and a Rimmel primer which have worsened it I think so have stopped using these now. Normally use benefit make up but stopped a few month back due to the cost but going to go back to it. I've never really had a proper skincare routine but I just look awful at the moment. Don't really have problems with lines, just bags under my eyes and Jowls area! Any advice would be much appreciated please

I started using Paula’s Choice following a recommendation from a fellow MNer and it has really made a difference. It’s a bit pricey but goes a long way and personally I don’t think you can put a price on good skin care. I’ve used the ‘clear’ range and it’s really made a difference to my spotty skin.

Oh and they do mini samples so you can give it a try before committing to the full sized products

If the spots aren’t responding to over the counter products, call your gp and push to see a dermatologist.

I had awful cystic acne for years in my 20s and 30s, and I've found the green Pears soap brilliant. I know a lot of people are nervous about using soap on their face, but it has worked wonders for me. I hardly ever get spots now, if I do it's usually before my period. I use Clinique anti blemish gel around that time and it keeps the spots in check.

Thank you all. Have ordered the mini set of Paula choice just to try it out and did a google for reviews and also ordered some face theory stuff. Will also try the pears soap, anything is worth a shot atm! It's mainly in my forehead and has only been like it a few months so don't think it's bad enough to see a gp yet but I will bear it in mind if none of this clears it up!

I’m not a fan of most pricey skincare so I don’t think you need to spend loads.

As long as your cleansing properly and regularly the spots aren’t your fault & the dr is paid to help you out with conditions like this. NICE wrote guidelines on acne, there’s no guidelines on “highlights gone a bit brassy” or “how to do a smoky eye” so don’t feel your wasting anyone’s time.

Definitely don’t battle on grimly like I did until it went cystic & scarred because dh still reminds me he told me I needed the dr when I’m moaning about the red mark on my cheek that’s been there three years. He picks his moments to remember things 🤨
