Face products for Pre teen

Just that really, I've a 9 year old DD and as much as she washes her face with a flannel and water twice daily she's beginning to look a little greasy.

Any suggestions for a kind cleanser and should she be wearing a light moisturiser?

Probably something super gentle like the facial soap bars that Lush make. If she uses something too strong and astringent there's the danger that her face just gets oiler as her skin tries to compensate for having all of the oil stripped from it. I don't think she'd need any moisturiser, especially at 9. No matter how light it is she'd just be adding more oil to her skin. It sounds counterintuitive but 'gently gently' is often the best way with oily skin.

Thank yoi@Wildwood6 she likes Lush products and had her 9th birthday party there! I'll have a look online.

I’d be wary of products aimed at teens which often have lots of essential oils and can be a bit much.
Perhaps go for something really gentle like this:

www.superdrug.com/Skin/Face-Skin-Care/Cleansers/Cleansing-Lotion/Cetaphil-Gentle-Skin-Cleanser-236ml/p/599962

And make sure she’s not scrubbing at all with her flannel. In fact I’d say with a cleaner like that, she shouldn’t need a flannel twice per day.

Some Lush facial bars have SLS in which I’d avoid.

Boots have their own basic cucumber range which is use sometimes for my sensitive oily skin. Really nice, gentle stuff.

Look at Cerave. Super gentle products and kind to her skin barrier

It's a bit pricey but Spots & Stripes is lovely stuff, my 11yo has been using it when she can be bothered for about 18 months now

gracielooloo · 31/07/2020 22:03

I was about to recommend Spots and Stripes too!`

MoverOfPaper · 31/07/2020 22:07

Spots and Stripes is amazing stuff. I use it too sometimes. It’s effective but gentle. I like their spot and bug zap stick so much I bought one for me.

I like CeraVe but my daughter says it stings.

A clean flannel everytime they wash is important too.

I would recommend either Cetaphil or Cerave products. Both really gentle and won't do any damage. At 9 she could be starting puberty so hormones could be causing her skin to get a bit greasy. A little bit of very light moisturiser after washing her face will stop her skin over producing oil if its thirsty.

Cerave here for my getting small pimples 13 year old. I use it too. The SA one.

Bioprepper · 31/07/2020 23:22

My 10 year old likes the moisturising wash by simple. No fragrances and doesn’t dry out her skin

Thanks all.
