So that's not great. I don't but clearly I have some dark circles going on. I don't wear make up day to day so I'm not about to put a full face on. Is there one thing I can use to conceal just this area?

You need colour corrector then a CC cream.

GisAFag · 31/07/2020 10:48

Conceler works brilliantly, just dab under the eye, use a brush to blend. Viola. Available in superdrug, asda, amazon etc different colours to suit skin tone

MonsteraCheeseplant · 31/07/2020 11:29

Is it ok to use concealer without a full face of foundation?

What is CC cream? By colour corrector do you mean the same thing as concealer?

It's fine to use concealer without foundation. Colour correctors are a step before concealer. You apply a shade opposite to the problem area to cancel it out. For example, if you have dark circles under eyes you would put yellow colour corrector on top. This is because yellow is opposite purple on the colour wheel, so it neutralizes it. You would then apply concealer on top of the colour corrector.

Colour corrector is a kind of makeup that aims to cancel out an unwanted colour. So a green product is used to cancel out redness. I have seen people use apricot/reddish products to cancel out areas of hyperpigmentation. The idea is that you then put another “skin-coloured” product (like foundation or a CC cream) over the top and you then have an even-toned complexion.

Ok, thank you for the education ladies! Do you think I could find colour corrector in Boots or Superdrug? I have concealer already.

Hotwaterbottlelove · 31/07/2020 12:24

Yep you will find correction anywhere that sells make up. Usually I get a set of green purple and yellow. Each 'cancels' out a different colour. They work amazingly. I'm not a big make user so these just give a little impoverishment without much need for anything else

MonsteraCheeseplant · 31/07/2020 12:28

I knew about green from years ago when I had acne but since that resolved I was delighted to ditch make up altogether apart from particular occasions. But the advent of other colours completely passed me by. It's not as easy to pop to the shops now but i'll definitely go asap.

I have hardly gone out without concealer since I was about 14. If I do I always get black eye comments.Hmm
The maybelliene eye eraser thingie is very good.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 31/07/2020 13:17

I can't imagine wearing makeup everyday again. It's bliss being without it.

Any recommendations for a good colour corrector?

udnertheradar · 31/07/2020 15:55

The NYX under eye corrector seems to erase dark circles. It's salmon pink

Zeldaaa · 31/07/2020 16:16

Bobbi brown do good colour correctors

Bananaman123 · 31/07/2020 18:59

It will probably depend,on your skintone too. Im very pale and orange correctors dont work, yellow isnt great but peach is perfect i use the rimmel one which has a green and purple too.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 31/07/2020 19:12

I bought yellow, orange and pink. I just tried the pink and am pretty happy with it, thanks for the advice ladies.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 31/07/2020 19:12

No, I tried the orange not the pink yet.

Coffeepot72 · 31/07/2020 19:45

Which brand did you buy, Monster?

AFireInJuly · 31/07/2020 19:52

I have awful dark circles, and I use this concealer - www.boots.com/maybelline-eraser-eye-concealer-10154633p

You can just pull the sponge off the end if you don't like it (I don't). It lasts ages that way. I tried using a colour corrector but couldn't find one I liked.

I don't wear foundation or anything, just this concealer. It works fine.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 31/07/2020 21:21

Sleek, never heard of it but I know I prefer liquids over solids and that was the only one I saw in my local boots (£6.99). As I said, I'm really happy with it, it's done a great job.

My dark circles cleared up when I gave up artificial sweeteners. Diet Coke, in particular, is a culprit. I don't know if it's relevant to you but I thought I'd mention it just in case.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 31/07/2020 22:20

Hmm, yeah i dunno. I guess it's possible.

OP posts:
MonsteraCheeseplant · 01/08/2020 17:55

If anyone is interested, I tried the pink today and it wasn't as effective as the orange.
