Long sleeve for tall (ish) skinny lad

We find DS current large size t-shirts are loose/wide in the body, just about right length in body, and too short in the arms. Seems like if we go for XL size that he will get wider rather than longer. DS is only 5'11" so I don't want to go to the providers who cater to men 6'4" and taller. Their T-shirts will be like dresses on DS, right?

What am I missing? Where would you find a T-shirt that would provide a good fit for a scrawny 5'11" lad? Thanks in advance.

How about this

Looks too much like a jumper... and he wants a thinner item, a t-shirt (sorry, bad title). Still, maybe H&M is worth a visit? it's a day trip out, so I just need some ideas where we can go to look, I guess. Finding long plain male-cut sleeve t-shirts in shops is usually completely impossible, we have found. It's all short sleeve T-shirts or sweatshirt style, nothing long sleeve inbetween in store. So frustrating....

Asos do a tall range, my husband is 6’5” and he gets all his t shirts from asos as they are the only ones that are long enough.

Prettybluepigeons · 30/07/2020 19:22

Topman. Their slim fit and muscle fit tops are really good for skinny kids.

lljkk · 30/07/2020 19:32

Topman is probably exactly the right fit. Just their prices to brace myself for (!!) But do they have long sleeve t-shirts in store? I wonder... Maybe I'll do a quick recce at the little bad city (hours away) without DS before dragging him out for a day.

H&M usually do have other long sleeve t shirts - maybe not in "slim fit" but definitely worth having a look.

Prettybluepigeons · 31/07/2020 17:04

Why the particular need for long sleeved t shirts?

lljkk · 31/07/2020 17:28

LS tee-shirts are what what DS likes to wear. Does wear hoodies but not jumpers. Jackets & fleece a little, too.

2tall is a great band but the pop's ds is only 5'11.

My ds uses them but he is 6' 7"!

Prettybluepigeons · 31/07/2020 18:29

*brand! Not band!

lljkk · 31/07/2020 18:30

lol, I used to work with a guy who is 6'7". Shortest person in small office was 4'10". They had funny interactions.

It's VERY tricky getting clothes and shoes that fit well and are flattering plus people comment on it ALL the time.

prisscalledwanda · 31/07/2020 18:37

Reiss? I know it's ££ but check their v good sales?

Pikachubaby · 31/07/2020 18:52

I had the same issue with DSs (6ft3)

I found that you have to buy “fashion” brands to get a more fitted fit. eg ASOS, Topman, Superdry, Hollister, also Diesel (they sell at TK Maxx sometimes)

More traditional brands like M&S etc are not cut for teens

So buy brands aimed at teens (fashion) to fit teens, ime ...

It has meant I spend more on their clothes than I planned, but usually sales are good.

Pikachubaby · 31/07/2020 18:53

2tall no good for my teens, they are not tall enough for it at 6ft3, and also found it pricey

Fatface do tall and skinny and often have sales

lljkk · 31/07/2020 19:04

Thanks for extra ideas. :)
