Liposuction - if you've had it....

Was it worth it??

I'm so unhappy with my lower body, which has large, dimpled pockets of fat on the saddlebags, knees and hips that won't shift no matter what I try.

What I hate even more, is that it bothers me as much as it does.

I am also completely flat chested (yes, have been measured properly, and yes, I'm an AA cup) which doesn't help.

I just hate the way these stupid things, that shouldn't be important, make me feel.

Has anyone had liposuction and if so, was it worth it?? (I've had 2 DCs and am not planning anymore children)

I had liposuction on my thighs about 18 months ago. Similar to you, pear shape and struggling to maintain a shape I liked with diet and exercise. Also short which doesn't help. It was quite a mind jump to go for it and I researched it quite a lot beforehand.
Positives: look a lot better in clothes and bust has got bigger!
Negatives: expensive, painful, deciding whether or not to tell people (I didn't outside my immediate family), the oozing afterwards

I have also noticed that my bum looks pretty big in comparison with my thighs and I have almost a ridge like a negative hip dip over my hips. Notice it from the front if I'm doing squats in particular. I have abdominal fat which I struggle more to get rid of and I wouldn't say the visual of my naked lower half is fab. But then it never was. If I pay attention to my diet etc these things are far less of an issue.

Overall I'd do it again. I feel much more confident in the types of clothes I like to wear (jeans and trousers mainly) and feel better proportioned. I look thinner overall I think.

No regrets, glad I don't have to go through the ooze again though 🤮

CMMum88 · 07/08/2020 13:01

@hadlipo what is the ooze??

hadlipo · 07/08/2020 13:02

They inject fluid and local anaesthetic into the fat before sucking it out so there's a bit of that coming out as well as bleeding. It was pretty bad for the first 24 hours but much better after that.

Bluewavescrashing · 07/08/2020 13:07

Can you have the fat they remove injected into somewhere else? Like your boobs?

hadlipo · 07/08/2020 15:55

I wish

Yes, you can have fat transfer, but there are significant risks with that as the fat degrades, can harden, and can also die so if a bigger bust is a desire then I'd pursue other options.

Hadlipo - can I ask who you used for surgery? Thanks for your comment, it's really helpful as I'm so so torn on what to do x

@hadlipo

Christ that sounds grim. How bad was the pain? I'm a massive wimp.

@Smokeandapancake234

I don't want bigger boobs so not worried about that. Just the bottom half that bothers me. Much more than it probably should!

I went with Elanic. It was smart lipo rather than conventional and done under sedation and local anaesthetic. The procedure itself wasn't that bad and tbh the pain afterwards was manageable. Just lots of wounds to change dressings on. After the first week it was fine. Got to wear a beautiful compression garment (crotchless) in a lovely beige colour for six weeks afterwards so that was a bonus 😐

I had Vaser Lipo 10 years ago. It helped with removing saddlebags and inner thigh/knee shaping. I was pleased with the results. I have since gained quite a bit of weight but I can see the smooth shape is still there. I will be happier if I can lose the weight again. I knew it was for shaping not weight loss but I think some people misunderstand what it's for and it's not weight loss.

hadlipo · 07/08/2020 18:17

Yes I weigh slightly more now than I did before despite the removal of about 7 litres of fat. I'm probably more relaxed than I should be about what I eat etc as the weight isn't going onto my thighs.
