Bras - for DD
26
KisstheTeapot14 · 23/07/2020 09:05
Most of my bras have had to go in the bin recently due to under wires coming out (I do try to fix but its a losing battle).
Any suggestions for companies that make bras which look pretty and have a god fit? Current bras are 38 DD. Often have difficulty in getting something decent which fit and holds everything in place!
Anyone had luck with Bravissimo?
Not going out shopping so would all need to be online.

I don't have any experience with bravissimo bras, but I recently bought a 'post surgery' bra from marks and Spencer's. It has no wires at all but is supportive and very comfortable.
They also have a wide range of non wired bras.
I know they are expensive but well worth the money for comfort.

I think the first step is check your size and then go from there. Underwites popping out suggests that your wearing the wrong size. Boob or Bust has a really good online calculator
dementedpixie · 23/07/2020 09:10
Measure according to booborbust website just in case you are wearing the wrong size
Fluffycloudland77 · 23/07/2020 09:29
Do measure at home, I bet your not a 38 frame size at all.

Popping wires is a sure fire sign that you are in the wrong size.

I've recently placed a few orders with bra stop - fab service and they do online fittings as I've found out that I'm not a 34 E but more a 32FF/G and now understand what style of bras suit me and how to actually put a bra on properly!
I found www.reddit.com/r/ABraThatFits/ a more accurate calculator than boob or bust.
Next also does a range of DD+ which has great reviews.

Thanks all!
Haven't been measured for years so quite likely my idea of size could be out. Interesting that popping wires could be a sign too. I tend to think its going in the washing machine that does them in (delicates/low spin but still...)
Last time I bought bras was a year ago in Primark - just tried on lots of styles and sizes until I found things that were a decent fit.
For the price they charge I'm not too disappointed when they only last a year. Since I'm down to one bra now I'd better get cracking and measure/order. Fingers crossed I'll find some nice bras.

Definitely use the boob or bust calculator OP - if you "think" you're a 38 you're more likely to be a 34!
StatisticallyChallenged · 23/07/2020 10:04
Make sure you follow boob or bust, or bra guru or similar. Easy way to tell- any method which adds 4 or 5" to your underbust is wrong. Your underbust measurement, firmly in inches, is your band size in most cases.
beautifulxdisasters · 23/07/2020 10:05
And yes as a PP said, Brastop are good. They have such a range in larger sizes that you can usually find something in the sale and they're not crazy expensive to start with either.
KisstheTeapot14 · 23/07/2020 10:29
Thanks! I knew I'd get good tips here.
thelistener · 23/07/2020 10:34
Asda! Great range, great price, and ime a good fit!
rbe78 · 23/07/2020 10:37
Bravissimo is fab, especially if/when you can get a fitting in person. I was always a Marks and Sparks girl, but the fit, quality and range of styles they've had for the past few years has been dire in the larger sizes.
I second all those saying you're probably in the wrong size bra! And don't forget that as band size goes down, cup size goes up - so if you're a DD in a 38 back, you'll need an E cup in a 36 back, or an F cup in an 34 back.
KisstheTeapot14 · 12/08/2020 14:31
38 F according to reddit calculator as suggested above...
Off to do more measuring and check what Boob or Bust make of my figure.
Got to measure up DS for a new bike today so the tape measure has never been so busy!

I'm Bravissimo all the way. Used to be Rigby and Peller before DC when I had money . I'm an awkward shape and size and they've always fitted well, been very comfy and lasted well. I do always handwash them though! Bought two new ones this week, a sports bra and a t shot bra, just waiting for them to show up.
Wallywobbles · 12/08/2020 14:40
Love bravissimo personally
AuntieStella · 12/08/2020 14:42
Asda bras are very good
Panache if you need a sports bra
peachypetite · 12/08/2020 14:43
Debenhams dd+ range
KisstheTeapot14 · 12/08/2020 14:48
36 GG on Boob or Bust
Bra Guru agrees 38 F
Not a double D in sight!
KisstheTeapot14 · 12/08/2020 14:49
What about sports bras?
I certainly need a new one of these too.
Last one bought 10 years ago.
AriesTheRam · 12/08/2020 14:52
Id get 36GG then
chasingmytail4 · 12/08/2020 15:03
@Kisstheteapot14 I'm waiting to see what you are on Boob or Bust.... I measured 32D on the reddit calculator link above and 28H on Boob or Bust. Last fitting was Rigby and Peller and they declared me to be 34D which are very comfortable.
KatharinaRosalie · 12/08/2020 15:36
Choose a place that does free delivery and returns and get 36GG and 38F, possibly also 36G and 38FF, in different styles too preferably, and see what fits best.
KisstheTeapot14 · 12/08/2020 16:08
Just browsing Bravissimo, they have free returns so I will go ahead and order a few and see what fits.
