Microneedling or laminating? Please help me!

So, like many people, I used lockdown as the perfect opportunity to grow my brows out.

As typical luck works have it, I am a hair beast everywhere but teenage years of over plucking have left me with thin hair in the one place I want it - my eyebrows.

I have found that my eyebrows have really big gaps in them now. You can see where my pre lockdown eyebrows end and the fuzzy attempt at growing them out starts. At 4 months growth, this is as good as it is going to get. Picture attached.

I had made up my mind that I was going to get microblading but seen a recent picture on Instagram that made me think perhaps lamination is with a try. Can any experts out there please tell me what would be best for my current condition?

Thanks so much!

I’m not an expert but Laminated is short term in comparison so this could be a cheaper way of seeing if you like it without the semi permanent process/ healing etc?

I’ve also seen loads of negative things about microblading due to the scarring over the years. Do you mean microblading or the SPMU with strokes and shading? Again, not an expert but I follow a few Instagram accounts and they’re all against the blading.

I’ve also had both lamination (tried once) and SPMU which I don’t regret but you have thicker brows than me so a good HD brow might work for you!

Hi @Fisharefriendstoo thanks for taking the time to reply!

I actually have an appointment booked in with a very reputable salon who did a half price offer for microblading during Covid. It is the price of 3x eyebrow laminations. As eyebrow lamination only lasts 6 weeks I guess the micoblading would be cheaper.

Interesting about the scarring. I’ve not heard about this before.

I meant the microblading with individual hair strokes rather than anything with shading as that’s not my personal preference (although I’m sure would look good on loads!) I basically want my eyebrows to look natural but more defined and with a higher arch.

Did the laminating make your eyebrows look much fuller?

Any laminated brows I have seen in RL didnt look great tbh.

I wouldn’t get it again I don’t think. It did make them fuller but it required more maintenance than I care to do. I had to ‘comb’ them and it just became annoying but I know people who swear by it so each to their own.

Re microblading it’s only what I’ve seen on professional accounts and I can’t comment as I’ve done limited to no research. But people are going more in favour of the micro needling via machine rather than the blade due to the scarring/ discolouration over time. You can still get hair stroke effects via the needling though. I got hair strokes with a shading finish as it just looked more natural for me.
