Swimsuit panic!

I’m off to France in a couple of weeks, I didn’t think it would happen due to Covid so I hadn’t sorted a swimsuit. Now I desperately need one before I go. I’m early 40s, size 10-12 with a (fairly gross) tummy (3dcs- 2 c sections). I ideally want something simple and fresh that holds everything in place. I’m not a fan of florals or polka dots or anything cute.

Assuming fig leaves still does free returns order a handful from there!

overwork · 22/07/2020 19:50

I got a tummy control one from M&S in plain dark blue a few years ago. It's quite miraculous if you can be bothered with squeezing into it! They have a couple of similar ones this year.

baffledbyworksheets · 22/07/2020 19:53

Boden are great for this! Have a great holiday

AllTheCakes · 22/07/2020 20:13

I’ve found Debenhams to be reliable for tummy control swimsuits in the past.

Bravissimo! Not the cheapest, but very flattering and lots of different styles.

Piggyhoolier · 22/07/2020 20:23

I know you said not florals, but on the grounds I’m not usually a fan yet bought this cossie last year I’m going to suggest this it’s so flattering and comfy.

Fiftysixthnamechange · 22/07/2020 20:25

Me too, Im going to do what I do every year and order about 10 from ASOS, try on at home and post back what I don't like for free at the local shop. As usual, I don't care what I look like as soon as I get to France and hit the beach!

huuunderickssss · 22/07/2020 20:27

Tesco have great swimsuits that have hold you in panels .

CushionsandCandles · 22/07/2020 22:11

The Boden Santorini swimsuit is your new best friend!

zippyswife · 23/07/2020 07:12

Lots of great suggestions. Thank you. @Piggyhoolier I can imagine that would be amazing on. I’d have bought that to try if they had my size. @CushionsandCandles I’ve had the Biden costume in my basket for a couple of weeks but just haven’t been able to justify the price. Unfortunately when I first was going to buy it they had 20% off but I dithered and missed the boat with it. Do they often have sales? Is it worth the price? It’s more than I want to pay but I’ll have it for years I’m sure as it’s not something I buy often.

I really rate Boden swimwear and have bought more this year after loving the two I bought last year. Flattering and good quality (I did buy ones in the sale though so weren’t too expensive)

Aworldofmyown · 23/07/2020 08:31

I'm a complete boden swimwear convert.

zippyswife · 23/07/2020 09:00

Ok I’m sold! Are they true to size. I’d say I’m a 10-12. Should I go Up or down?

OP posts:
zippyswife · 23/07/2020 17:51

Well I’ve ordered 5 Boden swimsuits and plan to try on and keep 1. I normally go for all black but I’ve gone for the sale ones that are block colours. So quite looking forward to trying them!

OP posts:
zippyswife · 25/07/2020 15:07

Wow! Can’t thank you enough for the Boden recommendation! All 5 looked great. I’m going to keep 2 even though the plan was to keep 1. They are literally stunning. And believe me I haven’t said that about anything I’ve worn in decades! - let alone a swimsuit! Cannot believe how flattering they are. I’m an apple with c section overhang by the way and they are still stunnning! Boden will be my go to for swimwear from now on!

OP posts:
NegativeNina · 25/07/2020 15:38

Good news op, would you mind sharing the two that you decided to keep?

zippyswife · 25/07/2020 15:42

Absolutely:

I ended up keeping these two. The santorini was really lovely but these two were just unbelievable. Genuinely never thought I’d say this about swim wear 🤣.

OP posts:
zippyswife · 25/07/2020 15:43

The red and bright pink is nothing like I’d normally wear. Completely out of my comfort zone. I’m usually black/grey/navy.

notasgreenasiamcabbagelooking · 25/07/2020 15:49

Did you size up or down in the end op? I'm a 10-12 too.

NegativeNina · 25/07/2020 16:00

Gorgeous op, thank you.

zippyswife · 25/07/2020 18:11

I went for the 12. If I’m being honest I’m probably a 12 at the minute rather than a 10. The other styles felt snugger. I had a bit of back fat bulge with them. This was just really flattering.
