Puffy feet / ankles

In summer when it's hot I get puffy feet and ankles, not excessively but enough to make them look a bit flabby and make shoes rub. Is there any way I can prevent this? I exercise plenty (running and strength training) and I'm slim. So annoying!

Magnesium tablets solved this for me, as well as drinking more water.

Interesting @Chemenger. What dosage of magnesium do you take?
Off to drink some water now...

How old are you?.

I take 500mg of magnesium oxide a day. I think other forms are meant to be better absorbed but the cheap ones work for me. The first few days I took it I consciously drank a lot of water, a glass every hour; that seemed to reset everything and I had ankle shaped ankles again. I take it every day and as long as I remember to drink a reasonable amount of water (4 glasses plus a few cups of tea) I’m fine. If I drink too little my ankles do get puffy in hot weather. I also pretty much gave up caffeine at the same time which might also have helped. I had had hot weather swollen feet since my mid-30’s and I’m now mid50’s. It definitely got worse with age.

It can be a sign of high blood pressure- get it checked.

Thanks @chemenger, I will give that a try. I do have some magnesium citrate powder but haven't been taking it regularly.
