Hair salon protocol help

My appointment is in a few days but it’s probably going to rain quite heavily (thunderstorms apparently🙄)

I initially planned to not bring a jacket or bag, as my salon states they can’t store anything and to keep personal belongings to a minimum. How strict was your salon with this? With the anticipated weather I might need to bring an umbrella at least, do you think they’ll be okay with this?

Could you take an umbrella and a carrier bag and store the wet brolly in the bag at your chair?

If it's raining presumably their clients will all take coats or jackets, could you just put an umbrella in your coat pocket?

Or take a coat with a hood maybe instead?

If you take a jacket I would maybe still take a bag to store it in if they aren't letting you hang anything up

I had my coat and handbag and just left it by the seat in the entrance. But my hairdresser is only seeing one client at a time.

Can you not just park nearby and get a bit wet?

Mnhealth202020 · 21/07/2020 18:52

Can’t park nearby as it’s city centre based, the nearest place I can feasibly park is one of the shopping centres, ~10 minute walk away.

Would prefer not to get my fresh hair soaked, I think I’ll just take a small umbrella. Hopefully they won’t mind

Thanks for the replies! Nice to know some salons won’t mind customers bringing a coat/bag

Ours lets you bring a jacket, but you go and hang it up yourself, they do not touch it.

Mine left a plastic bag on the chair. You took a disposable gown out If it and put it on then put your belongings in the bag.

I was actually advised to bring an umbrella because clients have to wait outside until their appointment. I took a large handbag for my umbrella, water and a magazine and left it on the floor.

The salon went to so much trouble to reduce any risk of transmission. As I paid, I saw them scrubbing down the chair I had sat in down to the wheels!

You could phone the salon and ask. If you have antibac in your pocket to wipe your hands and the umbrella handle, and a clean plastic bag to put it in, I think you will be ok.
