What's the Best non gel nail varnish?

Since the beginning of this year I've started taking iron tablets and multi vitamins and now I have amazing nails that I'd like to varnish .
In your opinion which do you consider to be the best non gel varnish . I have used gel varnish before but removing it seemed to damage my nails and they took a long time to recover.
It needs to be long lasting and chip resistant Smile

I love Essie polishes, and their Speed Setter quick dry top coat

Nails inc is fantastic. Good brush, long lasting, lovely colours. Also Leighton Denny though I haven’t bought any in ages. And Barry M, but the finish and longevity depend on the colour with those.

Worth buffing them before painting them if you have any ridges. Good wash with hot water and soap so you don’t have any grease on your nails. And I paint them one night - base, colour, second colour, top coat - then do a coat of colour and top coat again the next night. Makes it last longer.

Second the suggestions above. I have used a LOT of nail varnish in my time but always revert back to Essie and Barry M. (I also dabble in indie brands - ILNP specifically) Top coat is key - but the 2 things that make the biggest difference for me are:

  1. Try and coat the nail as thinly as possible and allow it to fully dry before putting another coat on. If you think its dry, give it another 10 minutes. If your polish seems quite thick, add a splash of nail polish remover into the bottle and shake thoroughly and it will thin it out.
  2. When applying your topcoat, do a sideways swipe across the tip/edge of your nail first with your topcoat before swiping your topcoat on as normal. You might get a bit of topcoat under your nail/on your finger this way but it will come off easily.
Sally Hansen topcoats are pretty foolproof.

BarryM 'gelly' is fab and such a bargain.

Thank you for all your suggestions, I'll have a go with them at the weekend

Essie Gel Couture range (it’s not a gel polish as such as no curing under lamp but you do need to use the matching top coat). Two coats, plus top coat gives me shiny chip free nails for 7-10 days easily. The best nail polish I’ve ever used!
