Walking trousers

I'm not sure walking trousers fit under the category'style' but here goes!
I'm after a pair of walking trousers that are a fairly slim in the leg. I ordered some from Craghopper that were almost flares! I loved the stretchy fabric but they were just too wide. I know they're not a fashion item but I still want to look reasonably good!

Lululemon and sweaty Betty do trousers that are good for activities without being leggings.

Lunaballoon · 21/07/2020 07:24

How about these? I’ve got a couple of pairs of Jack Wolfskin capris. They’re very comfortable.

crumpet · 21/07/2020 07:27

The Cotswold outdoor shop has a few walking leggings which might be what you are looking for

cherrytree63 · 21/07/2020 07:32

Go Outdoors have a good selection, also Decathlon if you've one nearby.

BikeRunSki · 21/07/2020 07:35

I don’t have any, but these often come up when someone asks this question.

AmIAWeed · 21/07/2020 07:36

Acai! I have the fleece lined ones and use for gardening as opposed to walking but I love them

isitreallytrue · 21/07/2020 07:39

I love these and have a winter weight and summer pair. True to size, very comfortable and stretchy.
Some of the colours are on sale.

I have a couple of pairs of these - not cheap but they are excellent quality and fit very well www.montane.co.uk/womens-c15/womens-terra-ridge-pants-p798#attribute%5B3%5D=13

Another vote for Acai. I have the fleece lined ones and they are heavenly when hiking & mountain climbing in the winter. 100% recommend.

Rohan - very well made, great details, half price sale on at the moment. I normally buy them on eBay and they're often available in very good/new condition (I'm assuming as people with lots of £££ buy them for £££ holidays and use them for no more than a week).

Solaran · 21/07/2020 15:18

I was going to say Acai too - they are slim fit, comfy and stretchy and wear and last well.

LoveBeingAMum555 · 21/07/2020 21:48

I have given up with walking trousers, they are all too wide and I hate them flapping around my legs. I now wear running tights and look out for thicker plain ones, which are so much more comfortable.

You do obviously have to make sure that whatever you are wearing on top is a bit longer but its worth it. Have never heard of Acai but will look at those.

Taswama · 21/07/2020 21:49

Rohan have some lovely ones.

TornadoOfSouls · 21/07/2020 21:52

I wear combat trousers (army surplus). They are dirt cheap, comfy, dry really fast, good in all weathers, have big pockets and last for years.

Thighdentitycrisis · 22/07/2020 00:31

I also wear running tights and a pair of soft jersey shorts I got in primark for modesty

borntobequiet · 22/07/2020 05:45

I’ve never found comfortable women’s walking trousers. They are all too tight/short in the crotch, even if I size up. (I’m a fairly normal 12/14 and have no trouble finding everyday trousers that fit fine, so I don’t know what the problem is with walking trousers.) So in summer I wear leggings or loose cutoffs (if not walking through brambles etc) and I have a couple of pairs of men’s walking trousers in a small size for winter.

Agree - I suspect they are all designed for men, and a few tweaks made, but not enough to make them actually comfortable for women. The lack of any 'give' in the fabrics makes it even worse.

Agree with all those saying running leggings or similar are much more comfortable and - if you get the right ones - more flattering too.

Thanks everyone for your helpful comments. Will look at those trousers suggested. Seems I'm not the only one struggling with them!

I would third Rohan, all of my fav walking gear is from there. Really well made and some good bargains in the sale, which is on now.

shinynewapple2020 · 23/07/2020 00:36

Oh I bought some really nice ones the other week . Made by Dare2B (I think). Got them from go outdoors. They are stretchy fabric with an adjustable waist. Fairly close fitting The only thing would be that they may be a bit too hot in very warm weather due to Lycra content but they are great in the current weather .
