School trousers in size 14-16

Help! My DD is very tall and big for her age. She is all in proportion with a lovely figures but wears a ladies size 14-16 clothes. School trousers are now a huge issue as all the usual places you get school trousers from just don't fit.

So where can I get plain black trousers that don't cost the earth, that aren't skinny fit, denim or jersey material (which aren't allowed).

Next, m&s?

At a size 14-16 her waist must be around 80cm which is worrying health wise though. That isn't meant nastily, though of course it's none of my business but it's worth considering

My basic work trousers are Asda value range. They're £6 each or two for £10,they'd be fine for school...

mylittlesandwich · 19/07/2020 11:20

Asda basics always worked for us too.

Thank you for the help. Will look at the Asda value range.

Asda value range are great, they wash really well and last forever and can get them in 3 different lengths.

I knew there would be a comment about her size, I was ready for it and had planned to ignore it.

But FYI DD eats really healthily - no fast food, crisps or fizzy drinks, blah blah. Everything cooked from scratch. She is just the way she's made. Was born on the 99th centile and that's where she's stayed. Family Dr not concerned.

I'm helping her navigate her way through a world where skinny is seen as beautiful (regardless of how it's achieved) and smart school trousers that suit her figure are all part of that.

Depends how tall she is, but look at Next and Asos for longer length trousers.

ittooshallpass · 19/07/2020 20:14

She's tall! A good foot taller than her peers.

I was in Sainsbury's today and had a quick look. Found some fabulous trousers. Had to bring them home to try on due to current restrictions but DD is delighted with them.

Thank you for all your help - I wouldn't have thought of looking in the supermarket. Can get a few more pairs while I'm doing the weekly shop to spread out the cost a bit!

My daughter is very tall and wears size 12, I second the Asda £6 ones, straight style in different lengths and Matalan have some great straight ones with with pockets for £14 that come in different lengths as well - she’s in a very strict school , no skinnies or Lycra!

ittooshallpass · 22/07/2020 14:38

Can you post a link to the ASDA ones? A couple of people have mentioned the £6 ones, but I can't find them online Blush

You can’t get them online, only in store. It’s only our large Asda I can ever find them. Got some great ones on matalan this week but more than double the price!
