Is this to much for a dinner date

Going on a date for my birthday soon if we go for dinner would this dress be to much. I’m 25 if it makes any difference and would wear it with heels and a cropped black denim fitted jacket.

I would would go with dress one. When you're 25 nothing is over the top. Have fun OP.

Ginfordinner · 19/07/2020 14:56

Round here the first dress, lovely though it is, would make you look way overdressed for a meal out. People don't seem to dress up any more these days.

passthemustard · 19/07/2020 15:00

First dress is perfect. No tights and denim or leather jacket and heels. I don't think it's over the top. I'm 42 and I'd wear it 😂

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/07/2020 15:07

First dress, no tights or jacket. There’s no harm letting the dog see the rabbit.

Littlebeachhut · 19/07/2020 15:23

Or I own this

Op why don’t you ask him to give you a hint as you need to know how casual/smart casual/smart to be? That’ll help you to decide

Ginfordinner · 19/07/2020 15:42

That's a lovely dress as well. I wish I had the figure to carry it off.

bekindtoyou · 19/07/2020 15:45

OP, I like all the dresses. I wish I had the figure to wear them

Littlebeachhut · 19/07/2020 15:45

I will ask when I speak to him later x

The first dress is lovely for summer.

He'll probably be aching to rip it off you by 9 pm.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/07/2020 09:37

The skirt outfit is cute. Personally though, I think stilettos would be all wrong with it. Trainers would be cute.

Just joining in to encourage you to 'shop your wardrobe'. This early in a relationship all your clothes are 'new' and I'm sure you have lovely pieces already.

Ah, just seen that picture of one you already own. It looks beautiful.

If you don't have lots of clothes you already love, it might be worth working out how to buy only things you really love and will wear again and again.

All the best.

Littlebeachhut · 22/07/2020 09:44

I don’t really do trainers I hate wearing them unless for the gym

Thanks finallyhere I don’t have a lot of
Clothes recently lost some weight and my last relationship I didn’t ever really own any nice clothes

Can you find out what he is planning to wear and use that as a guide?
What do you usually wear to go out for dinner, and what are the people around you usually wearing?
Are you staying away for the night, or will you be in your local area? Consider how people locally to you dress.
It’s fun, but tricky, dressing for a surprise. All of the outfits you’ve shared are lovely, but wouldn’t have worked in any places I’ve eaten recently.

ArtieFufkinPolymerRecords · 22/07/2020 10:00

None of the dresses/outfits look right for a July evening out. Even if you like to wear black, rather than lighter or brighter colours, I would go for something more summery.

Firstimer703 · 22/07/2020 10:01

I would wear the first one, especially if I was 25! Enjoy OP x

Namechangewhy · 22/07/2020 10:42

Looks really good OP, first dress and JW outfit. Enjoy

Littlebeachhut · 22/07/2020 10:45

He’s wearing a suit as he’s coming from work I think I’ll stick with the last outfit as I feel most comfortable in it x

I'd wear the third dress, especially if you don't know where you're going.

The first two look great but more like a LBD to wear out with the girls for cocktails in autumn/winter easier to wear on an evening where you'll be standing more than sitting. If you're worried about being over dressed a slit that rides up when you're sat down could make you feel more out of place.

The third however is lovely and you already own it!! I always loved wearing quite simple shapes on dates especially if I didn't know what to expect. That would look as good in a pub garden as it would in a higher end restaurant. Keep it simple and wear it well, understated but polished with nice hair and makeup.

However you're only twenty five, wear what you feel good in and enjoy your celebration. Most likely you'd look brilliant in a bin bag. Have a lovely time.

Littlebeachhut · 22/07/2020 10:57

Thank you crazymscurls

Any tips on make up or how I should do my hair x

I would do the first dress, and boots. That way it's less dressy than if you wore it with tights and will work even if you go to a pub. The boots could be high heeled or flat. But no platforms! And definitely a leather jacket rather than denim.
