Scar removal/minimising appearance

Hi,
My child had a deep cut on their face that needed to be glued. Can anyone recommend any cream/oil that would help to reduce the appearance of the scar?

Silicone scar gels/sheets are supposed to be good.

I too was going to suggest silicone gel or sheets. They need to be used for a LONG time, months I believe, but can be very effective- especially when used soon after the injury. The gel is applied very, very thin and might be more useful if the area of their face moves about. Its also less noticeable than the sheets.

Also, if the wound is really noticeable and deforming, a plastic surgeon might do laser treatment to smooth the area, which might be quicker than the silicone gel.
