I would like to get rid of all the scaly dry malarkey in record time as I have to speed shower now I have DS
Anyone got any recs that 1) aren't hideously expensive 2) actually work and 3) don't have those weird little beads in them
?

I find exfoliating gloves and a bar of soap much more effective than a body scrub, and better for the environment too. I got a pair of 'charcoal' gloves from Primark, they've lasted over a year and still going strong.

I agree with gloves and soap followed by Nivea Soft.

Soap and exfoliating mitts or the longer cloth one from Body Shop so you can do back. Then Aveeno.

Tropic body smooth (I think that’s the name) salt body scrub you rub on dry and then rinse the Salt off. It leaves lemon essential oils behind that you massage into your skin - lush!!!

I love the Hammam scrub from Rituals - smells like a spa! But to be honest exfoliating gloves are amazing, I get the Soap & Glory ones purely because they have a little loop so I can hang them up on a hook in the shower.

I agree with the pps who mentioned the gloves. I have a body scrub towel - same material or concept as the gloves but as it's about 4 feet long I can squeeze some liquid soap on it and do my back easily, comfortably. I also prefer not to have my hands in those gloves. If you only have a few minutes now and then this is ideal.

coffeewithmilk · 13/07/2020 08:39

I love the body scrubs from Rituals. The big tub is very grainy and great for removing that dead skin. But combine this scrub with a pair of those gloves and it's a game changer.
I then use the bio oil 'dry skin gel' afterwards.

Give it a try, it's literally the best thing I've found to date

Peterbishopssarcasticsmile · 13/07/2020 09:09

I had completely forgotten those gloves exist!!!
Are there any you rate over others or are they all pretty much the same?
I'll check out the rituals stuff as well, sounds lovely

I read about the 'Korean Italy towel' things on a thread on here a couple of weeks ago, claiming how miraculous they were - see your dead skin coming off in shedloads in the bath, skin as smooth as a baby's bottom etc. I was abit sceptical but bought some off Amazon and was properly astonished. Literally haven't had smooth skin like that since I was a child! And that was after one use!

MrDarcysMa · 13/07/2020 18:39

@lazylinguist op says needs to be quick in the shower though so the cloths don't work that well unless you've soaked first

lazylinguist · 13/07/2020 18:51

Ah - true. But you don't need to use the cloths often at all, they're so effective - so maybe for an occasional bath!

Tillytess · 13/07/2020 19:02

I agree re Korean Italy Towels. I have used exfoliating gloves forever and recently switched to the Korean Towels, what a difference. Much more effective. I use them in shower with any shower wash/gel/foam. Also, I'm not in the shower for that long either...

Shmithecat2 · 13/07/2020 19:04

Rather than a physical scrub, try something like Ameliorate body lotion or Facetheory's Glycomide body cream.

goose1964 · 13/07/2020 19:47

I didn't find the Italy cloths that good but I suspect that's because I exfoliate regularly anyway. What it did do was highlight my dry patches so I know where to concentrate the body lotion.

Bomb cosmetics body polish is good to use in the shower. Its a buttery formula that comes in a tub - you scoop some out, work it in your hand so it foams a little and then use as a wash/scrub all in one go. There are various ones, my favourite is the vanilla frosting one - it smells delicious and leaves my skin amazingly smooth and soft.

Acid based product (such as sprays or pads), followed by:

This (smells delicious): www.lookfantastic.com/shea-moisture-coconut-hibiscus-illuminating-body-lotion-384ml/11982745.html

Or this (cheaper but smells vile):

One of my top ever Mumsnet recommended buys, a salux cloth. I've converted several other people too! Just use it with bar soap, lovely lather, and I haven't had to use body lotion since
