My new clothes are hanging there unworn. Anyone else?

Clothes bought in early Feb-March for the warmer weather are unworn some still in their packaging. Not a lot, but a couple of pieces of knitwear and new dresses. None will be worn this summer. I work mainly from home and have spent the last 4 months in comfy lounging bottoms, T shirts or sports stuff.

Nothing to really moan about but unlikely I will be eating out or doing much before it's autumn.

Anyone else?

My pre-Covid purchases have also not seen much of an airing. I had a good few black tie dos to attend over 2020 so invested in a sparkly frock. Plus had a few weddings so had got some existing stuff altered so they fit me precisely.

On the plus side, they are acting as an excellent incentive not to gain or lose weight. Because I still intend to put on these same gladrags again at some point in the future and I would like them to still fit :)

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/07/2020 14:46

I’ve put on half a stone so my new jeans don’t fit but then neither does anything else.

Ginfordinner · 12/07/2020 14:55

I wore a top yesterday for the first time since I bought it 5 months ago.

PersonaNonGarter · 12/07/2020 15:12

Gorgeous Soeur jumpsuit gone unworn, two jackets, Plus another spring jacket I bought in the sale last year. Tops that would have been worn loads, just worn once. Four pairs of trousers with the tags still in...

MikeUniformMike · 12/07/2020 15:42

Me too.

JinglingHellsBells · 12/07/2020 17:00

Glad it's not just me. My only outings have been a quick dash to the supermarket late in the evening.

Me too. We were due to go on a cruise in April, and I was going on a short cruise with the girls for a couple of 50th birthdays (should have been sailing next week Sad) so I'd picked up some evening bits in the sales at the beginning of the year as well as some summer things.

I've bought some bits from Zara and Uniqlo during lockdown, but they were things that I could wear at home as well.

DH bought me a pre-loved Alexander McQueen bag as a lockdown treat (I was struggling quite badly MH-wise) and that is sitting in the wardrobe until we eventually go out for dinner.

I am taking solace in the fact that whatever the doom merchants would have us believe, this will not last forever, and we will be able to get out and enjoy things again, and my new things are classic enough to be worn and used and enjoyed then.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 12/07/2020 17:52

Same.

I doubt they’ll even fit me now anyway

Standrewsschool · 12/07/2020 17:55

I’ve been working throughout and made an effort to wear my new dresses.

thedevilinablackdress · 12/07/2020 18:09

Get them worn! I find it cheering to wear nice things during lockdown.

MyTearsAreOnFire · 12/07/2020 18:10

Absolutely the same! Glad it isn’t just me!!

Colliewobbles86 · 12/07/2020 18:13

Just before lockdown I vowed to stop “saving for best” and did all the school runs looking fabulous.

Now I’m a slob in loungewear and have been for over 100 days Blush

Laska2Meryls · 12/07/2020 18:15

We went to Bologna in February for DH's 60th and whilst there I treated myself to a beautiful (and expensive for me ) tan suede handbag ..

Its sitting on a cupboard in the hall as I have only been to the supermarket and for that I have used the same small cross body bag that I took with me on that trip..
I pat the new precious as I walk by occasionally and tell it that I do love it and it wont be wasted...

I bought a load of summer clothes for a beach holiday in March that I didn't go on. Most of them (including bikinis) remain unworn. I am hoping to wear one of my outfits on Wed eve when i go for a garden get together with the 2 friends that i was meant to be holidaying with in March!

Bluewavescrashing · 12/07/2020 18:51

If anyone has size 10 clothes they wouldike to send my way, please do.

I've been kidding myself I'm going to be a size 8 for so long and finally accepted it's not to be 😊

Mnhealth202020 · 12/07/2020 18:53

Nah I’ve been living in dresses, skirts and cycling shorts! It’s actually nice to be able to wear my nicer clothes for once, as I used to work long hours at my office so would be in business attire most of the week.

nitgel · 12/07/2020 18:57

Yes but I always have unborn clothes. Sometimes I don't wear them for a couple of years but I can't resist something I like and know I will wear.

Ghostlyglow · 12/07/2020 19:09

I'm wearing mine. Don't save stuff for best, you deserve to wear great clothes. My self esteem plummets when I dress badly.

Yes! Wear one of your new bikinis Grin
Ardnassa · 12/07/2020 20:14

Much as I love the idea of wearing my sequin gowns and yellow '50s silk cocktail dress even during lockdown... that would feel deeply strange!

Happily, my casual clothes also make me feel good: cashmere sweaters, soft cotton and linen t-shirts, Liberty scarves and a different perfume every day (and sometimes perfume oil at night. Because why not!)

StCharlotte · 12/07/2020 21:10

I had a pre-lockdown spree and then started wfh so could order lots of lovely things online as well. Even though I've been alone in the day, I decided sod it and have worn it all apart from a lovely red mac which will have to wait until autumn.

eurochick · 12/07/2020 21:21

I'd bought a couple of really nice dresses for the office just before lockdown. They have just sat in the wardrobe.

baggies · 14/07/2020 19:22

I got called up for jury service in May. Letter came at the beginning of March. Since retiring I don't have smarting everyday clothes ( but of a slob) so bought from Next, 2 pairs of trousers, a jacket, short and long sleeve tops ( in case it was cold/warm) . Then came lockdown...... finally a week before my jury service was due I was advised that it was cancelled and I would not be called. Too late to return to Next.
At least I have a whole new wardrobe but would have rather spent the money on clothes I'll wear all the time!

kitschplease · 14/07/2020 19:24

I bought some new office wear in March and hope it still fits in Autumn! Work from home wear has been shorts and a naice top for Zoom.

Zinnia · 14/07/2020 19:33

Bought some lovely work trousers/tops in COS at the start of March... worn some of it but not the trousers! Will give me something to look forward to when I go back to the office I guess...
